A Little Sportback Info.

Okay, this isn't groundbreaking stuff, but I thought you guys might like to know.

I'm pretty sure the 2.4L 4G69 SOHC MIVEC motor will be the only choice, but here is what I found out today:

Automatic only and six colors:
Phoenix Red P85
Cool Silver Metallic A31
Ion Blue T35
Diamond White Pearl W13
Labrador Black X42
Lightning Yellow Y01

2 Trim levels (no details) and black as the only interior color.

Trim Levels are as follows:

ES/LS - same as current ES/LS Lancer.

Ralliart - essentially the sportback version of the Ralliart Sedan.

Oh, I see. So you think the base level will use the 2.0 from the regular Lancer? I was thinking we weren't going to get a Ralliart version of the Sportback too.

The way they named the trimlines "B" and "G" would seem to agree with me. As B referes to an ES and G to an LS on the sedan. "T" is the new letter for a regular Lancer which by process of elimination, would be Sportback, as "R" is for OZ Rally.

It is interesting that the regular munich silver is going away in favor of using the Evolution silver on all Lancers. And sad that Royal Blue, a popular color for us, is going away in favor of Mystic Blue.

SPECIALIST: No, I'm not a dealer owner, I am in sales.

I was just guessing that the Sportback would have a Ralliart trim level.....kinda the same as how the WRX comes in Sedan and Wagon....it just kinda makes sense....regular lancer and ralliart lancer, regular sportback and ralliart sportback. See what I mean.

I don't know anything about engines in the new Lancers in terms of who will have the 2.0 and who will have the 2.4.

I doubt it. Product strategy between Mitsubishi and Subaru hasn't had any parrallels before, I don't think they'll start now. So don't expect any wagon versions of the Evolution (or STi) anytime soon. I have seen pictures of the Ralliart Sportback, like this closeup of the badge on the back of a yellow one - I just don't think it will show up this soon, maybe next year if demand is strong for the Ralliart sedan, but of course, it is all just specualtion. I'll keep you posted as I learn more.

Is there a serious market not only here in the but in this forum here as well for the sportback. I was just wondering because any form of hatchback has never been attractive to me personally. Just wanted to know who was into that type of look. Looks too station wagony to me.

My duece pesos.

The Sportback won't be a hatch, it's a wagon. It's called, "clever marketing", because what kid would by a "wagon": IS300 SportCross, Protege5, etc. There's a pic of a red one somewhere on the forum. Just watch out for the billion posts of "That's (insert negative adjective here)."

wow, there is lots of talk about the sportback but i havent actually read of any owners! well...i am a proud owner of a sportback! it appears to be a love/hate thing going on with it. you either love it or hate it. like i said, i am a proud owner! i love it! if anyone has any info regarding aftermarket parts please let me know. im currently interested in lowering it but its been difficult to find proper springs since they differ from all other lancer versions. possibly same size but different spring ratings. dunno??? dealer cant even give me much info on it.
