It's true!!!

We got in some of the 2008 Lancers here on the island and they came with 1.6L mivec engines. I am still trying to get the specs as for HP etc, but the salesman told me they are more powerful than the old 4G94 lancers.

I'm not sure why they did not order the 2.0s or if that is what Japan is sending here but more info to follow. They ordered the 1.6s.

I was waiting to see if they were going to be compatible with the US spec but as soon as I popped the hood in the showroom I knew the engine was smaller. Sometimes though Japan has small engines that are rated higher than their bigger counterparts.

Just giving out some general info.

I hope a GEAR head buys one and I can get some timed info from the track.

I would have rather have gotten a 1.6L in my OZ! Hell, my early 90's Honda 1.6L makes more power than our "modern" 2.0L!

The old mitsubishi 4G92 1.6L mivec engine had 175hp.

I wonder why they ever changed it or why it wasn't more popular?

I think the 4g92 DOHC ran at about 176 HP... with mivec. Plus it was a 1.6L with a very high compression.

By the way 4g94 guys, the head of a 4g92 bolts up to a 4g94... =)
