Messed up my shifter boot!

ive got a problem and i can't seem to fix it! I installed a short shifter, no problems there. But then i got tired of using my B&M shift knob, so i decided to try out my buddies rx-8 shift knob. I loved it, but he wanted it back so now when i took it off, i noticed my shift boot was sitting very low and its stuck there. There is a rubber ring is looks like that is keeping it from coming back up!! So now i have a short shifter with a lot of thread sticking out before my shift knob.

How do i get the boot back up? it's stuck there! Ill take a pic later today...

I'd say just pull on it, I've had the boot stuck to my shift knob before, never the metal shifter though... How hard have you tried pulling?

Just yank it. It's cloth and rubber. You won't really snap anything. It's probably just stuck under the ring or something.

I dunno man, you're sounding kinda girly right now lol. JK. Try twisting while pulling. I can't think of anything it would actually get stuck on...

Pull the console, unhook the boot from the console, find the problem.

Never heard of a shift boot being such a problem! Sorry to hear that!

But don't you have to slide the boot off the shifter to get to the bottom side of the console to be able to unhook the boot? If I remember correctly. His problem is kinda weird though...

It'll be majorly awkward, but you can do it with the boot on the shifter.

Gotta do what you gotta do...
