Ok, I'm sick of this. I have never understood how manual is sooo much faster than automatic, like you shmucks say. everytime ive raced, or seen a race like a manual lancer vs auto lancer, its always been a tie or close to it. the part i dont get is, how is it faster? automatic= no letting off gas or clutching= quicker shifts. ive beatin stick lancers with my stock auto, so whats the deal?

auto tranny can cause a loss in power due to parasitic means that the auto works. I have an auto too so I am not hatin just explainin.

I agree that you can get quicker shifts and such bet manuals can control their RPM's better and move their car into the powerband easier. The car can dyno the same numbers but still be faster with a manual (that is assuming the driver knows how to drive and shift properly else they will get killed by an auto).

ive raced both an auto and a manual lancer. both with the same mods as me. i smoked both of them in the quarter, off the line and by at least a car plus in the end. why, because i am a better driver. if i was driving that dudes auto and he was in my car, even being the better driver, theres nothing you can do in an auto but mash on the gas pedal. you cant speed shift, or tap the clutch to get that extra spurt to biuld your rpms. sorry bro. ill smoke you to.

anyway, now back to the original thread. the wagon is still ugly

Automatic transmissions are heavier, making the car heavier.
Yes they do shift faster than a manual. It's usually a toss up.

Bottom line is that the auto loses low end power due to slippage in the tq converter (which is normal operation for a tq conv). From a roll you would have the same power. If you want to inprove your tq converter and get 1/4 times similar to a manual, check out Level 10, they will beef it up for you. OK now lets get this back on topic.....WHERE ARE THE PICS!!!!!

hahaha thats the cockiest thing to say!...haha let me guess you use your car as an extension for your *****? haha do0de if i were you i'd do some research...if you haven't noticed yet the Top Fuel/Nitro Fuel funny cars all use automatic 3spd trannies! so your calling them b!tches for that? lol what about F1 and CART racers all use clutchless sequential trannies??? old MOPAR stock dragsters ran with 3spd trannies and ran 10's on the 1/4 do0de just drop everything your going to say judging from your reply here about auto vs. manual it shows that you have no clue what you are talking about and shows that you are just plain IGNORANT! good job. now have a beer and lets get back ON TOPIC!

U9V: i'll be using up the rest of the shots later today and will drop them off at a developing store right after i finish biking...they should be done within a few days and i'll scan them and post.

auto is slower due to extra weight.. slippage of the converter (always between 8 to 13% until the TCC(torque converter cluth) kicks in) and soft shifts. remember this.. automatics are a luxury... and shift for comfort not performance(in most cases) while a manual is all about driver control. has nothing to do with women or men.. women are lighter and and there for will ususally have a weight advantage (not in all cases!!!!) so remeber that next time you wanna start comparing men and women... it about the damn driver..(and any extra quirks they have)

back to the wagon pics... can any one say ... SOCCER MOM!!!! (maybe a young one)
