A lot of thinking, need some opinions

So I've been doing a lot of thinking recently about my plans for the future of my Lancer, and whether or not its worth it for me to keep going or to move on to a car with more support and greater ability. At this point if I do get a new car it will be RWD or maybe AWD, but certainly not FWD. I won't really be losing the Lancer, as the way it is worked out financially, my father would be taking my car as his own, which is good because he likes what I've done, and potentially has aspirations to push it farther like I was going to. So its still there for me to work on.

So the question because whether or not I move on. If I do here were some of my potential ideas for new cars:

Nissan 350z (currently my top pick)
Nissan S13-15
Toyota Corolla
Lexus IS300
Mazda RX-7 FC (old style)
Mid 90s Subaru 2.5

And I'm still open to ideas.

What I'm looking for from you guys is maybe some opinions on which of those cars you would pick and why? Why I should stay with my Lancer? Alternative options, and opinions on the choice in general.

Its not so much that I'm looking for greater then 300hp (although it would be nice to hit somewhere around 450-550) but rather a platform with more support, better drivetrain that sort of thing. As it is my Price limit is around 24,000 CAD (and its not necessarily 5000 on a car the rest on parts, its just the amount I'm willing to finance up to, not total amount I have, regardless whichever car I got would eventually see modding, just some faster then others based on original purchase price). Keep in mind Cars are more expensive here.

Love to hear your thoughts guys. Thanks

I hear the next Tiburon will have the RWD world engine in it.
If thats the case the aftermarket for it will be huge.

Personally, the wife and I have been looking at the Subie LGTs...used starting $17k and up. Very mod friendly and a good sized aftermarket for it. Great handling car and speedie right outta the box!

I love my subie if that helps but any of the cars on the list are a good idea. As for keeping your lancer, only you can decide that.

I would say just go test drive each one and see how they compare. I have owned and modded a 86' SR5 corrolla. The corrolla is a great car but like the lancer, parts are pricey.

I will be test driving a 06' 350Z in a couple of hours. So far the only problem with the Z is the lack of room. I'm 5' 11 and a little over 300 pnds so room is important.

I have no issue with spending that kind of money on the motor though, because it would have cost me close to 15k to get the Lancer engine fully done enough to achieve half the power the 350z could produce with the same funds. Either way, whatever I choose, there will be money put in it, its a long term project car. The question is whether the Lancer really cuts it as a long term project car.

i thought it was interesting how your list has cars like 350z, IS300 etc and has the corolla as well lol. plus isn't corolla a fwd and u wanted to stay away from that right? i would say the 350z or the IS300 would be good. one of my friends used to have an is300 and he put a good amount of time and money in that car and it turned out great. plus its 4doors and spacious for familiy too if u want something like that.

not really. 350's can handle 400-500hp easily. you can buy turbo kits from aps. their prolly 1 of the best kits for the z. you can get a single turbo kit starting close to 4k and it goes up to 8k i believe which of course is twin turbo. i think its 2 different twin turbo kits made by aps too. last time i heard greddy d/c the twin turbo kit set up. i know this because i been doing research and i was thinking on building a z when i grad next spring.

but yes my cuz has a 350z and it sux in the rain.

You don't need to turbo a 350z for it to be fast, hell I'm sure going from a lancer to a bone stock Z will be a great change.

Not a problem for me, it won't be driven in the winter. The lancers going in the garage for this winter this year, I've got a 93 Toyota 4runner for my winter car
