Honestly...whatever's available. Higher octane = better performance though. I just stick with regular. Not like I have a beast or anything. Not only that, but there are gas stations who actually just charge premium prices for regular and pass it off as premium gasoline. I'm not saying this is a standard or anything, I'm just saying there are some out there. ...the bastiges.

Well seeing as California gets terrible fuel, I use our highest, 91 octane baby. Premium Ultra Pimp D-Lux Gas. Heheheeh...okay...maybe it's just called premium.

The highest you get in CA is 91? Yeesh. That stuff passes as spring water here Seriously though, is that due to the strict emissions standards you all have? Just curious.

If you have a stock or close to stock Lancer, you should really fill up with the manual's recommended octane which is probably 87 right? Filling up with premium is just a waste of money and in the long run will create carbon build up on engine parts.

The only reason to fill up with premium when the manual suggests regular is if your engine knocks or if your car is heavily modded.

EEk! 22!? Ouch. Stings. I least mine was .10 cheaper! Ugh...if only they could make high performance hybrid cars. Saving money and going fast would be great!

I use 93 octane, which is premium here in Illinois. You really won't notice any difference in performance, but higher octance fuels tend to burn cleaner, meaning fewer harmful deposits and crap left over inside your engine and exhaust. I've seen engine rebuilds on motors that have never used anything but premium and the inside of the heads are unbelieveably clean. Premium costs more, but it's worth it if it can save your engine in the long run.

Of course than means I'm paying 1.89 per gallon, but a couple extra bucks here and there is no big deal.

Once turbo kits come out for the US Lancer, I'd recommend switching to Premium if you aren't already using it.

I run 89 in my Mazda....I can tell a difference between 87 and 89 in the car, its worth the extra 5 cents.

BTW - $1.79 for high octane! You guys are getting raped, its only $1.33 here right now.
