the way i see it, there really isn't a point in having a GTS trim with more power (possibly from a 2.4L NA engine?) if it's gonna cost about the same as a RA with turbo AWD. the lancer always was an econocar. the current GTS always seemed to me to have been a bit pricey for a lancer, even if you get a LOT of stuff stock.
AAAAHHHHHHH I didnt mention this but my guy also told me that outlander (wich is the same platform chassis that the lancer sit on) was getting ready to come out in a new 2.4 liter that was on a basic all wheel drive system so my thoughts are that that is the new R/A platform to. I just hope I get to see the new X before it gets grabbed off the lot. And with a limited amount of GTS out there it will for damn sure increase the resale value but I am not sure about the increase at the dealership.

ya
the canadian has the SE = Stupid Edition

the ES and SE are almost the same, its kinda a joke. when you really look at it all the cars are the same. My question is if they are changing the GTS, why didnt they just wait 6 months to make a real 2008 model car lol instead of this 2008 in the beginning of 2007 calender year.

The guy in charge of this marking needs to be fired

if mitsubishi were smart, they would delete the DE Trim ( no A/C )..... have the ES replace the DE as the lowest trim.....GTS should be mid model and a turbocharged awd ralliart lancer should replace the GTS as the highest end model...next step after ralliart lancer....EVO

Last reliable info we've gotten states that the "Ralliart" (name not confirmed) will be a low-boost 4B12 engine (2.4 L) with a basic AWD system lifted from the Evo VIII/IX RS. We've been 100% positive that it would be an AWD turbo, but only recently did we find that it wouldn't get the 4B11 engine. Also, the GTS is supposed to be rereleased in 09 with the non-turbo version of the 4B12.

I don't know what is this talk with GTS being discontinued but my local dealer here in NJ has plenty of GTS cars and there is always one or two new each time I go in there. Also, according to this Mitsubishi press release ( http://media.mitsubishicars.com/deta...49808&mime=ASC ) Mitsubishi will introduce new engine choices for Lancer/Outlander. Outlander is already confirmed to get a 2.4l "World Engine" 4B12 which has been used in the Japanese Outlanders since late 2005.

However I have heard rumors that the GTS rim supplier went belly up and that next batch of GTSs will probably have a new rim design. Also there is a huge demand for new Lancers in Russia, thats why Mitsubishi probably pulled back a bit US production and concentrated on Russia where Mitsubishi is a highly regarded brand.

Anyway, to sum it all up, GTS is not gonna get discontinued and probably will get a power upgrade to the NA 2.4l 4B12, there will be a Ralliart model (although might not be called Ralliart) with AWD and small turbo. And the thing that is most exciting to me is the introduction of the Sportsback variant of the Lancer which should happen at 2008 Geneva show, I just hope this car will land on US soil ( http://www.leftlanenews.com/mitsubis...k-in-2008.html )

Well if its a condolence to anyone, i bought a GTS on Saturday. Rally red, same rims as always, $22,000 or so.

So , for the current time it appears the US is safe, that or my dealer didn't get the memo.

2 dealers that I have spoken to have both told me that they are selling the GTS models faster than any other. One dealer offered me a decent* trade on my GTS for an EVO.

*By decent I mean I still would've lost somewhat but if I hadn't financed all of my taxes, fees, etc with the car I would've rolled a very small boot.

Its doubtful they would redirect stuff from canada, they are A) selling like hotcakes and our currency makes it more attractive for them to flood our market.

EDIT: Im guessing the dressed up ES's wouldnt have the paddle shifters??

I don't know what is your definition of hotcakes but in all reality Mitsubishi is almost non-existant in Canadian or US market, Mitsubishi is doing much better in Europe (where they are a well established brand with rally/dakar heritage) especially Russia, and as far as currency exchange rates go, it doesn't make a whole lot of difference if they are not selling them in significant quantities. I am more than sure quantity wise Mitsu sells many more Lancers in Russia than in Canada.

Well i am not so sure about the numbers, but I am certain that Mitsubishi is ramping up supply to canada, they have seen said so in their press release shown here.
I will keep my eye out for the sale figures I beleive the publish. something interesting to research.

But one thing is for sure, Mitsu did make a strategic mistake estimating how many GTS's to make. the wait has gotten as long as 3 1/2 months.

Like I said in my earlier post, my local dealership currenly has about 10 GTSs to chose from, with S&S, with Navi, or just the plain one, so I guess it must be a regional thing with the waiting lists. The manager of the dealership is a friend of mine and we had a talk about the new Lancer and he told me that Mitsubishi estimated that about 60% of all new Lancer sales will be the ES trim (GTS and DE trim about even) and currently they have been dead wrong about it and no one is buying the DE trim and ES trim ain't doing well either, if you look at the Lancer sales in US you can see they have dropped because people want the GTS trim and I guess it is of limited supply.

I guess people these days want to spend additional 2000-3000 and have the car all decked out considering that most of the sales are 4-5 year loans so a $2000-3000 more over that time adds to $40-$60 more per month which by todays standards is not a whole much.

He said that Mitsubishi messed up on the pricing structure of ES and GTS as there is about $1500 difference between the two, but he also mentioned that Mitsubishi at first planned to release the GTS trim with a 2.4l engine which would make the price of GTS more expensive and the gap between ES and GTS would widen making the ES more attractive. However due to financial constraints Mitsubishi had to use the same 2.0l motor across the board, however Mitsubishi will introduce new engines to Lancers soon so I am guessing pricing structure will make more sense.

Anyway, he also mentioned that Evo X should be available in late January, Galant will get a major refresh (not a total redesign) in March/April, and there might be a Lancer Sportsback available on US market by late summer/early fall.

Well to add to this crazy trim Lancer line. Here in Puerto Rico there is a GT model. Same spoiler kit as a GTS, foglights. But no sunroof, no disc brakes at the back wheels, and they have a 16 inch alloy rim similiar to the one a Outlander would have (ugly as hell). The interior is also not as nice as a GTS. Looks like a DE inside. If I get pics ill post them.
