Automatic to manual conversion

Anybody know how much it would cost to turn your automatic into a manual transmission? And how hard is it?

A coworker is trying the same thing on his Acura. The cost of the swap, to do it right, is more than half the worth of the car! IMHO, your better of buying a different car unless....you have access to a donor car for cheap to get all the odds and ends. Good luck.

even if you have everything it has been my experience that it is never going to be as nice as a car that came a manual

There really needs to be a sticky in bold letters that states, "TOO MUCH MONEY. BUY A FRIGGIN MANUAL NEXT TIME".

Hmm..

So you guys are saying its not worth trying to swap okay I agree. But is it really worth buying a Lancer with manual over automatic as far as performance is concern?
I wonder what a manual lancer es and an auto es race would be like and which car would win. Both cars being stock that is.

If you are comparing Auto ES vs. Manual ES then Manual ES will be the winner.

If you are comparing Manual ES vs. Some other Manual cars then Manual ES will be a looser.

If the driver of the standard knows how/when to shift properly, the automatic ES will be in his rear view mirror pretty much the entire time.

Very true^^ hinesight is 20/20. I will never buy automatic unless its for someone who wants one. I drive the interstate alot so I think I wouldn't have shift alot anyway.

i just think that you should sell the car, not buy another es, and buy a real lancer, in reality es's arent manufactured to be fast
