i know how many here of us said that our cars are made cheap, no matter how much i love my car, i'll admit that some things in our lancer is butt cheap.
i knew that mitsubishi designers were abit stingy in the interior/aesthetic designs. atleast we can rest assured that our engines are good quality tho.
i'm not here to talk about how cheap our paint is, actually, i think mine is great, no chipping or anything like that.
i know how the inside of the car is cheap looking, and so are the stock chairs. the sowing stiches ripped up on the side of my driver's seat 1 week in (no i'm not fat and heavy).
today i also noticed on the windshield, on each side, where the rubber lining is, u can actually lift it, ie. its not glued on properly, i'm afriad water might leak in and ****, does anything have this problem on the windshield? and also when u follow the rubber lining down, there is this plastic area where it sticks to the surface of the hood area and that keeps lifting too, like as if its not glued well...
i'm gonna go ***** at my mitsu dealer on monday and try to get this fixed.
i urge u all to get this checked out b4 water leaks in and get it fixed while ur under hte guarantee.

Just curious, if you still have the sticker from when you bought the car, look for the % of the car made in the US vs the % made in Japan (should be near the city/hwy mpg rating). Mine is 97% Japan and 3% US and I hav'nt had any of these problems. I have a 02 Lancer OZ.
Not dissing the Good ole USA but if you go to a dealership and and look at 2 identical cars closely, one mostly assembled in the USA and the other in Japan, Many times when you really look at the lines of the car (headlights centered, hood/trunk centered) the US cars lines tend to be a little off. It was night and day to me when I bought my Lancer and I made the salesman move 5 cars to get to the one I chose.

One cheap part about the lacer i actually like is with more quailty cars it har to take the dash apart or other things in the interior but not our lancer a rubber putty knife is all u need pop theres thewindow buttons pop there the front panel u remove like 10 screws u can remove most of your dash and it easly goes back together
I wonder if the Evo 8 interior has the same characteristics as the OZ Interior. They look the same to me(except for the center panel in brushed aluminum, gauges, and many others) and the fact that the evo is a high priced car, the interior should be of high quality??
Or the evo 8 got its high price due to its tough chassis, engine parts, and designer labels(i.e. enkei wheels, recaro seats, momo steering wheel etc...)

Chang, the Lancers are assembled exclusively in Japan unless something's changed since MY 2002...which I really doubt. The small % in the US may be parts for CA, CARB or NHTSA standards.

umhum, my car is FOB (fresh off the boat) I havent had not one problem with my lancer, thank god. As for the windshield, mine is very much in tact. And why would water leak in anyway...i thought those windshields were suppose to be GLUED in. ? maybe it was just my imagination.
