Lancer vs GSX
I have a gsx.........It is a great car but total crap compared to a lancer. Besides it having a 4g63 engine from an evo 1-3, it has nothing in common with the evo's, its Awd system is not the same as an evo's 4wd.
It is a poor substitute for the real deal. But it can be modded to be a quick little sucka!!!!!!
My DSM bros are fonna kill me for that

I only said that because those engines were on the same side as the gsx. The American 420A neon engine is on the the same side as the evo 4-6.5tme.BAH
neons with swapped evo engines...................crazy

The GSX and Laner EVO are NOT in the same market.
The Eclipse GSX is exclusively available in the US market, (afaik, no official Mitsu dealer in Canada during that time) while the EVO is available to the rest of the world (officially import or grey import)
the DSM Diamond Star Motor was created during the early 90's. That includes (Mitsu, Eagle, Plymouth) Eclipse, Talon, Laser, all with same engine and mechanically conponents but with slightly different body style.
I think the reason of creating the GSX is because of marketing. MOST American don't really appreciate a high-performance sedan (that's why the Legacy turbo RS and Galant GSX died out during that time). Therefore; they want to take the goods of the EVO (4G63T, AWD) put in into a package which is more appealling to US majority. That's why we have the Eclipse.

US does nto have both though
I see your point, but as it stands the US onyl see one of these so they would not reallt compete. I will be hoenst I do nto know if the eclipse is world wide.
The reason for no AWD & Turbo on the new Eclipse is because the previous gen GSX didn't deliver the sales figure they expect.
The total number of GSX sold comprised of less than 10% of the total Eclipse sold. Therefore; it was chopped. It's all about the demand, man.
However, the RS and the WRX is another story, a rather successful one. And it also have to deal with the timing.

Jackie Chan owns one GSX (with the sponsorship he got, he can own whatever he want for Mitsu)
Nop, FTO is FTO, Eclipse is Eclipse, they are two completely different cars. They might "look" similar, but not the same.
Let me fine some pic of FTO....
BTW, The top-notch FTO comes with a MIVEC V6 engine, no turbo.
