ECU Flash
I went to that dealership today, to check out that eVo VIII.
It has a carbon fiber spoiler, turbo, cold air intake, very nice rims, great interior.
I was impressed, 40k miles isntead of what it listed (almost 60k). and he was asking 24k, so I was thinking, wow, maybe it is worth it.
So here we go, I saw the key on the dash, I started it up.
That was the most horrible sounding car I've ever heard in my 18 years of living. It sounded like it had a cherry bomb installed. How rediculous, Ok, so that wasn't the worst part. The fuel/air ratio gauge was going WACKO. The gas was so lean it smelled like I was inside a fuel cell. Nevertheless, the gauge went so wacko that it wasn't reading correctly anyway.
It was missing, horribly, as it idled.
Although, i've never driven one, I wanted to try. so. I waited, and a couple minutes later a guy came over.
So, we drove up front for a license plate. I wasn't prepared for the turbo, because I've never really driven a turbo other than a VW Jetta 1.8t, it wasn't that fast.
So, we were going out on the 4lane, and it hit 3grand and the turbo kicked in, threw me in my seat, and slid sideways. Ok, woah. scared me, wasn't ready for that.
So, now that I knew that the boost kicked in at 4psi...(rediculous, if you ask me) But anyways, I kept driving...
We drove down town, and this squeeling the whole way. Guess what? The rear bearings are SHOT. Completely. The front tires THUNK whenever you turn it, so it has rear and front end problems. That's expensive, I know first hand.
So, I wanted to see how much power it had nonetheless, so, I punched it, hit 7grand, shifted, and was at 75mph before I knew it.
So in my experience, I can just about tell you that car had about 350hp+, with the turbo's. That's pretty darn good, for me. That's actually PERFECT for me. That's all I really ever wanted out of a car. So we drive back to the car lot, and the guy informs me, he can't sell me the car, it's not safe enough, he is going to talk to the shop guys, and get them to either fix it, or sell it to someone who will fix it.
He said he'd call me if another one game in. I'm psyched. That was the biggest piece of **** I've ever driven, but it had power nevertheless!
I loved it. Amazing. I see why you guys love your lancers.
What are the chances of me getting my OZ Rally to 300HP with that much throwback????
Thats how it went, I didn't even negotiate prices, because it wasn't worth it. I can't afford to fix the rear end, nor the front end, or whatever else 'might' be wrong with it.
