Ralliart since it's faster stock. The OZ doesn't respond well to bolt-ons and nothing less than a turbo will make it "fast".

Though I've only owned an OZ, I can say it has been almost flawless throughout it's 84k miles. I love the look of the '02-'03s over the later models and the Ralliart, but that 2.4L in the Ralliart is fun! Definitely enough power to get around those ricers out there.

If you truly want any performance gains, boost is where it's at!

Good luck with the decision!

Go with the Ralliart. It's a much better starting platform. Better engine, better seats, better suspension. Better car.

I love my OZ I have put 7K on it in the 4months I have owned it.. As far as reliability I think the Lancer is up with the best, my friends parents have an 03 OZ, bought it new and it has about 110K on it now... Also was supposed to have an oil change at 98K (still has not received one) but its their car... No problems at all except the A/C knob issue...

anyways im leaning more towards the oz right now but havent made final decision proboly if i do have upgrades it might be i/h/e, piggyback ecu, short shifter, then go on to suspension: get some tires, better breaks a sway bar and more just not sure. but is there any good name brands out there that u guys can tell me about, and if theres anything else that cann really increas my power cause i read ambystom thread about bolt on for the lancers and thats kind of scary seeing how it would decrese so if theres anything or if you guys can can u post ur horse power of your car and what u have done to it that would be alot of help

I think you need to READ through all of the forums here on the ralliart and lancer before you make that decision because you should definately get the ralliart not the OZ because it has way better potential of modding power and suspension wise than the OZ can every dream of (since that may be your gold). I say this because even the Aftermarket support (including ongoing R&D for performance & styling) is superior to that what is available for the base lancer or OZ has right now.

Thats about the exact opposite. First of all, both the OZ and the Ralliart can use the same coilovers and swaybars and all that stuff, so there is no difference in suspension availbility. Second, although you start with more power with the ralliart, because they only made that car from 2004-2006, versus the OZ from 2002-2006, there is far more part support for the OZ over the Ralliart. But either way you slice it, if you want to end up with a lot of horsepower, the ralliart is gonna get you there 50hp faster to start, so it really depends on what you need. I have every suspension mod for my OZ and its handles fantastically. So I think either way you'll be happy. But you have to look at what your going to change in the future. If you want to put on coilovers, then it makes the upgraded suspension of the RA redundant, if you want to put race seats in, its makes the better seats in the RA redundant, if you want to put a short shift kit in, then it makes the slightly shorter then OZ kit on the RA redundant. And if power isnt the big concern, then going with the OZ is going to save you money on pieces you would have paid for on the RA that you were just going to eventually replace with better aftermarket parts.

They will do stuff. But very little. After a few years, you'll either sit back and go "you know what? I spent $4,000 on modifications, and my car is still about as slow as when I bought it!" or else you'll say "you know what? I'm soooo happy I bought that turbo kit because it made my car WAY faster than it was stock!"

Got it?

If you're buying an OZ, then you can either buy a turbo kit or buy a bunch of mods that don't add much power. The choice is yours. We keep telling you to get a Ralliart, but it is YOUR decision. But I don't get why multiple people have said "I/H/E mods are useless on the OZ" and you're already asking which I/H/E parts to buy...

I'll repeat it one more time for you:
I did all the I/H/E mods on my 2002 OZ and my car was about 5whp faster than stock.
My friend bought a turbo kit and his car more than doubled the stock HP.
If that doesn't tell you which route is better, I don't know what will.

As for suggesting vendors, RRM and Works are my personal favorites.

The 4G94 (the engine in the OZ) doesn't respond well to bolt-ons, period. You can spend thousands on bolt-ons and gain maybe 10 hp if you're damn lucky. if you want real power (ie. enough that the car will actually stand a chance against minivans), you need to turbo it. The ralliart on the other hand starts with 50 more HP and actually seems to gain some HP with bolt-ons. I don't know specifics since I don't own one nor have I ever own one. Asking people what HP they're making is somewhat pointless as it depends on a lot of variables including what mods they have and what dyno they used. The same car could dyno 130 whp on one dyno and 200 whp on another.
