What are people doing with the Lancer
If it reved to the moon you would be back driving your ex with no torque. and I dont know what u drive or what kind of **** you lug around but if im not mistaken the oz weighs in around 27-2800 lbs. someone correct me if im wrong.
I am all show, and will have the go to back it up in the Winter/Spring coming up. Getting a turbo just for show purposes, not for "Go" purposes. But hey, at least I can say I can back it up now!

I voted for other, because I am really disguested with my car now. For some reason it just pissed me off after the autocrosses this weekend. The car has no power at any RPM, gets extremely bogged down below 2300 RPMs, has a nasty looking front grill, over priced, crummy gas mileage, handling sucks because the car is too tall, no decent aftermarket struts or brake pads, etc, etc (with a 2.0 liter engine you should be able to get either power, or good gas mileage, this car has neither). So, I'm contemplating selling it and getting something a little more enjoyable.
The only good thing I can say about the car is quality of manufacturing. The car has been out for two years now, and for a first run of a new generation of vehicle, it seems to be holding up well. No recalls have been issued yet and I don't think I've heard of anyone with major manufactuing defects. (oops, forgot about the squeeking struts)

I wanted the go before too much show. I've got RMR intake, GReddy exhaust, low pro tires, and the RMR Power-Slot rotors. All I have for show is the S2000 antenna. I plan on getting new 17in chrome rims plus new tires next and the JDM grille. After that... it's back to go.

It just doesn't make sense to me why we have a 2.0 liter engine, with no significant gains in power, and really crummy gas mileage. I mean the Corolla gets 32/40, has a 1.8L DOHC engine, and gets 130/125. Also it costs less then the Lancer. Anything wrong with this picture?

i have put a grandam and a civic in the ditch so far i have a favorite corner goin uphill i can take at 85 kph+ and no one else seems to be able to take at 60-70 even though they can both beat me in a line. ive shaved 1 head so far Cause he lost with his wide TA tires to my stock shtty yokos.
I havent had any handling problems! this car is tight especially for a +/- 3000lb car!
I never race in a line anymore though.

i'm deciding on something similar -
looks like stock until the warranty expires. there are several mods like SOME chips which cannot be detected (sometimes they're not even going to prod and poke at every piece of equipment on the car for a problem). also, it has to be a related problem. if you modify your intake and your a/c won't work the next month. they have to fix your a/c under warranty since the intake mod cannot possibly cause the a/c to go out.
with NOS, you can pull it off before it goes to the dealer.

do these turbo kits, like the one from rrm, come with everything you need? even stronger pistons? i hear that's the lancer's weakest link and any significant HP gain will destroy the stock pistsons.
what turbo kits allow you to keep your A/C?
here's one that claims huge HP gains (280 which is more than the EVO) and says you can keep your A/C, for only $3200 - http://www.importperformanceparts.ne...itsubishi.html

If you have the money all your problems with your car can be fixed. If you were planning to race it, you should have maybe thought of doing some tuning to it. Replace the grill if it's nasty (Evo style grill, the RRM grill, or a Ralliart grill) If you need handling, lower it, get new sway bar from RRM. RMR just got new brake pads I believe or something like that, you should check it out. And if you need power... go turbo. You probably know about all this stuff, if not hopefully I helped you out in looking to make your Lancer better.

i'd be interested to see you up against a 2002
lighter, (less HP, yes) lower CG, etc..

I still doubt I would get beat by a stock corolla regardless of year. I'm not stock but I only have an RMR SRI and GReddy catback. I'm pretty in tune with my 5 speed as well. Won't know till I try though.
Re: Re: turbo
that's my next question. 5-7 psi boost can work ok with the stock internals? does this include the weak-link piston?
how much HP do you think the stock internal parts can handle? how much with just replacing the stock pistsons?
just ballpark approximate HP .

Anything over and you are gonna start looking into some trouble. That kit for 3200 is new and no one has seen it or put it on so there is some doubt still out there. RRM's kit is test and works and will soon be smog legal so the choice is yours. Oh yeah and RRM's you can keep AC too.
