Drop 20k down on your new Evo X and use the left-over 6k to do light mods and make some car payments.

Do you live in a place that snows? If so I would take that into consideration because AWD is nice in the snow. Keep in mind the insurance of an EVO, because its quite expensive, not to mention Mobil 1 oil changes and premium fuel.

Option 3, I'm in the same boat with you, I just don't have the money to worry about it yet. I figure with a few mods the RalliArt could be as fast as the IX is stock, maybe even the X, and it'll probably be lighter than both. The stock power would be enough for me, I'd probably still be unable to keep myself from changing things, mostly suspension though. Just don't rush yourself because you don't want to have any regrets with this much cash on the line. Drive each and see what you think. Think about your level of driving and which would be the best fit for you.

I'm not going to lie I was at the Toyota dealership today picking up my mom's camry when a new Blue XRS Corolla caught my eye! It was actually a pretty sweet ride, 2.4 liter VVT-i engine. The one I was looking at was 23K

Yeah but it's a Toyota, ie. the brand most preferred by old, menopausal women.

Well I said I was at the dealership to pickup my MOM's CAMRY... But I still would take a Corolla, especially in a nice sport trim...

I haven't been a fan of Toyota since they killed the Celica. Supposedly that's coming back in one form or another though.

Yeah, i'm not sure about buying a used Evo because I know every Evo owner has a tendency to mess with the engine or do unimaginable things with the car. I also like the idea of getting a new car since my last two cars I owned were used.... a 300ZX TT and a Lancer ES.... I'd like to have the power I once had with the Z car.....the Lancer I have now doesn't really move quick enough for me... but I am glad for the amount of times I would have to fill it up with gas.
I live in NJ so it DOES snow, but thankfully for pollution and greenhouse gas, there hasn't been much snow for 3 years now... we use to have blizzards...but not anymore...

I'd also like to stick to Mitsubishi... because if I don't, I'd like to drop the full 26K as a downpayment for a Lexus IS-F or a loaded IS250.

I am really looking to get a car that I buy it and I don't have to do anything to it anymore... which is why the 650 RF system the Lancers have is perfect.... I have no plans for dropping it or putting a kit on the car for a good few years....

The GTS is a good car and I like mine a lot, but I'm very interested in the '09 Ralliart. I doubt it'll be too much more than a loaded GTS, and it will have a lot of the stuff I love from the GTS plus the upgrades that I'd like to see on my car. The 152 horses in the federal spec Lancer are good for its class, but still a bit anemic for my tastes. If you're in Jersey, you'd get the PZEV spec that has 140-some bhp. I really like my GTS for looks, value, and drive feel, but if I can I just might trade up for the Ralliart. You wouldn't technically have to do any modding if you didn't want to, but I'm sure if you did there'd be some good options that might even work better than the stock Lancer.

Yes I would never unless I was going to tear it down for the track. And even then! People buy those cars to abuse them, and a lot of them have no clue as to what they are doing. An EVO for a daily driver would have to be new for me. Actually, probably any sporty turbo car would have to be new. It's very hard to find an unmolested WRX, let alone an sti or evo.

I would recommend, given your options, to wait another year and save up. I wouldn't ever buy a car in its first year as a new platform (that's as complicated as the evo). Evo X people are already having shifter issues and dented hoods from the weight of the antenna. If I were you, I wait and save more, wait for the evo X's markup to subside, then pick one out in advance with every option that interested me, and walk out of the dealership knowing I did it right.

Doesn't that void factory warranty?

Yeah, the vast majority of it.

They should still fix the interior and suspension issues...
