How can I get an 08 GTS to run a sub-5 second 0-60?
i was looking at your other threads and i don't think you really know what you want.
seriously, if you want to buy a 2008 lancer gts for 25,0000 and spend 10,000 to put it in the high 200hp range (which still won't give you a 5 second 0-60 car) you should just spend the extra 20 bucks and buy the new evo.
i don't think you know a whole lot about cars, so you will really need to worry about labor as well as parts.

Something to keep in mind, the further you go, the less you get in return. It's relatively easy to turn a 9 second car into a 7 second car, hard to make a 7 second car a 6 second car, and extremely expensive to turn a 6 second car into a 5 second car.
im guessing this guy is under 18.
The GTS is a FWD. Does the 60 in roughly 9 seconds. You're talkin about almost half the time here that u want off...
it is not a lightweight civic...
well, just in case u come to ur senses - skip the GTS and buy the upcoming ralliart :]
gudluck, yonder, and discover young grasshopper.

I love the Lancer, and I rarely tell people to buy a different car.
But trying to get a FWD econobox under a 5-sec 0-60 is close to getting a 5th grader to do your 12th grade homework. Or blood from a stone.
There's lots of nobility in making a slow car fast. But I think 5-sec is too much to expect from the Lancer.

I think if he shoots for something a bit more realistic, say 6 to 7 seconds, it might work. I said it in a previous post, a lot of power + FWD + factory tires = a hell of a hard time getting the power to the ground. The fact that I have a LSD and traction control out, but it is still a fight.
I don't think the OP realizes just how fast a 5 second 0-60 is. IIRC, the Evo X barely squeaks out a 4.9 time, and that's with AWD, Yoko Advans, and near 300 hp. To get a Lancer to do it, you'd need at least (guess) 250 whp, a LSD, drag slicks, and be on a VHT-prepped track... and pray that you don't break your trans or axles.
Tis true water weasel, the new evo can post a 4.9 second 0-60 in the GSR model while the old Evo IX RS could pull off a stupid 4.4 second 0-60, both according to Road and Track. I think with FWD, you'd need more than 250 whp, maybe even as high as 400 whp. The only reason AWD cars have low 0-60 times is because of the AWD. Supposedly I have a faster 0-60 time than the Mazdaspeed3 but in all but a ***** to the floor, have to win race, I'd be looking at some hatchback taillights.
