OEM evo intake fit 03 OZ???

i could easily get CAI, but i wanted to see if anybody here attempted to put a EVO8 OEM stock intake into their OZ. i wanted to step outside the box and try something new.

Anybody here think i would gain HP or not?? Lots of popular NA intake designs looks similar to EVO 8 intake.

does not fit.

$10 maf adapter + $25 cone filter = same gain as a cai (none, except better mpg)

i was trying to build like tubing system that looks similar to this pic, but using a EVO8 intake box.

Sgand: i know its not going to fit like a glove. obviously it would require modification. i was wondering has anybody here attempted to put one in their OZ

Why would you want to put the stock airbox from an EVO? It uses a panal filter just like the Lancer and it is still restrictive. I wouldn't really see any point on wasting money on something like that.

No it won't fit and no there isn't a point as Kurt pointed out. If you want an intake, either buy a panel filter or a cone, they both do the same thing anyways.

Option B.

Drill several large holes into the front of the stock air box. Slap in a K&N panel filter and call it a day.

Option C.

Cut off the entire front part of the stock air box but still leave the frame of it to hold the filter. Install K&N panel filter and you are set.

Don't waste your time. Just because it comes from an Evo doesn't make it a better part. You're acting like anything off the Evo is way better than Lancer parts and that's just not true.

Remember this, I am not talking about drilling small holes. I am talking about drilling 2 inch holes or larger if possible.

Why are you talking about an evo8 intake and posting a picture of an S2000's engine??? OBVIOUSLY by looking at that picture that is no where even remotely close to our lancers. Maybe try a semi's intake????

and the idea of a evo intake in a lancer is crushed bahaha or option d. drill some holes in your hood where the stock intake goes not small ones big ones 2in n larger if you can and then takw to top of the box cut it an buy a vent from home depot and glue or sumthin and tada! air from the wind passin thru the hood...bugs not included.

OK, I know everyone loves quick DIY projects, but you can probably spend $30 at Autozone and make a DIY SRI. Why bother throwing stock parts from other cars on?

There's a reason we get rid of stock parts. Lancers AND Evos.

I may be mistaken, but I believe the actual stock panel filter from the lancer and the evo is identical. Although an interesting idea, there would be no use.
