I need a new intake for my 2003 Lancer OZ.

I bought one of those crappy ebay short ram intakes (BOMZ Racing), and i've had it for about a year or two now. I realized its horrible, the piping is god awful and made up of rubber hoses and cheap metal pieces, it makes a rattling noise when the car is in idle (it doesnt fit quite right so it shakes and taps the battery), and it seems to actually reduce my gas mileage if anything.

Now im on a super tight budget, i mean RIDICULOUSLY tight, whats the best replacement short ram intake for a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ? I seriously cant afford much, so give me the cheapest best options before the best costly options. Or maybe someone knows a company that can hook me up with the intake for cheap.

Here is a pic just so you see what i mean. Look at the rubber tubing, the metal pipes, its just terrible.

Any help will be really appreciated.

Watch the classifieds, used intakes for your car tend to pop up there often.

Honestly, i have $0 to spend, but since its just about necessary to get this, im thinking between $50-75. But if its really necessary, ill pay more.

Im looking for cheap, but good quality.

do you still have your stock piping? RRM uses that since it does just as well as the smooth pipes. Then I believe the adapter for the maf will bolt right on. Then maybe pick up a K&N filter if you think your filter is also part of the issue.

Im pretty sure i do, but its like a 50/50 chance that its laying somewhere in the garage.

I just need something hopefully fast because its getting terrible now. Also can you sort of dumb it down for me, im not 100% fluent with the terms on the intake.

I posted to the classifieds by the way, i searched and i didnt find anything at all.

You must recall amby, guys buying cheap ebay intakes just for the adapter. buying a filter and putting it on stock piping. Same thing as RRM intake but for less money.

Basically. Put the stock piping back on if you have it. If not someone must have a stock intake for sale for real cheap. or even get a intake pipe out of a junkyard lancer for cheap. Your maf adapter (the adapter that your maf sits ontop of) should bolt up. Then the filter on that.

Well now this is urgent. I was cleaning off the filter, and the piece of metal that holds the whole intake system up ripped apart, so now its dangling and it doesnt look good. Its not anything serious, i can still drive, but i should get it fixed rather quickly.

Just find your stock intake and use it until you find an intake you like, can afford, and has decent quality... just my .2cents

Christ, we've had what seems like 10 of the custom SRI threads pop up lately. You haven't read any?

True but that's why I suggested going used, that way you're basically just paying for the filter and the adapter rather than the brand.
