They should have tested the manual GTS vs the Sentra rather then the CVT. Manual is at least half a second faster. Plus they don't even take into account the fact that the lancer can come with the nav/tech package and the bumping sound system..

I wonder if the seats in the Sentra are as comfortable as the ones in the Maxima and Murano. Those 2 seats are way more comfortable then the ones in my GTS.
Nissan needs a better warranty to back them... but then again so does Toyota.

another thing to mention that they failed to mention is that the sentra SE-R Spec V requires premium fuel whereas the GTS does not. this makes a big difference in terms of power and price to own.
yea, i think that review was dumb, they shouldnt even be comparing those two cars, there are too many differences.
besides the point, that sentra is FUGLY, i glanced at it when i was considering cars in the 20k price range and said "no thanks" in about 5 seconds

Yeah I agree, silly comparison.
OT: to madfast, im not sure if its the seats in this GTS or what but my back pain has really flared back up since I got my GTS (im 18). I wish RECAROS weren't so stupidly priced. Heh.

^^ I like the seats in the GTS, i havent had any back pain yet, at least nothing an inch or two shift from one side to the other couldnt solve. I'm coming from an 04 cavalier though, those seats sucked! they are made for ridiculously fat people that apparently have no need for lumbar support whatsoever. These lancer seats put me in a much better driving position and seem very rally inspired
I worked at a Mitsubishi dealership untill not too long ago, and have driven the new Lancer plenty.
My girlfriend was in the market for a new car about a year ago, and I pointed her in the direction of the Nissan. Cars I were considering for her was the 08 Lancer, 07 Sentra, 07 Honda Civic. We ended up going with the Sentra because of overall ride and comfort of the vehicle, as well as the fit and finsh. The Sentra (2.0S Model, not SER) is a great car, seats are plenty comfortable even on long trips, visability is good, it handles relatively well dispite it's size, and the CVT is a much better trans in terms of performance than your average slushbox.
Truth is, the new Lancer really didn't impress me much. The 4B11 seemed weak even when paired to the 5 speed manual. I like the exterior look of the Lancer compared to the Sentra, but between the SER and the GTS lancer, I think the SER is a sweet looking car.
Not to mention in long term reliability, I'm going to put my bets on the Sentra for the least amount of hassle.
And as someone said before, I see WAY more Sentras on the road than Lancers, which says alot for the Nissan.
