Remove de-badging clear coat leftovers?
I recently debadged my car, and I am wondering how I would remove this:

I have tried wet sanding with 1500 grit, but to no avail. I even tried rubbing compound, but that makes it stand out worse! Please help!

Try getting some petroleum distillate(its an adhesive solvent) and try rubbing it off. Be careful because too much and it can remove the clear coat and paint. That is most likely dirt on the adhesive that is left over. Or you are one of the unlucky few that dirt and possibly wax has built up and created a permanent outline.
If it is just adhesive stuff, try peanut butter. Leave it on for like an hour, and then go out and wash it off. If it is worse than the adhesive stuff (etched in the paint) good luck.

i was one of the unlucky few, that had a permanent shadow where the badges used to be. and nothing worked, so finally bought some new badges and put em on. dont like the look but was my only choice it seemed.
It looks like it could be that some one painted the trunk before and instead of removing the letters, they just cleared over them.... Is the clear around the outlines raised higher than the inner part of the letters?
when i debadge my 02 i used a blow dryer and some spray detail and rubbed the **** out of it. also it was already about 102 outside i left my *** end in the sun for a couple hours.
oh yeah also those letters have been in the same place for 4 years the color diff will be there for a while
