I need help putting together the intake.
i don't think you get what im saying, just look at my picture and try to make it like that. Take out the second coupler that you don't need and your intake should face out towards the the fan shroud. Your intake will still work it may not look all fancy but it works and its driveable. Just try it or get someone that knows to do it. Remember i have this exact same intake kit, i didnt even use the brackets cause when i installed it, it looked exactly like yours in the picture i did a few adjustments it worked out.

See the little black hose that comes out of the silver piece, between the two couplers? I have no idea what it does, but i cant get rid of the couplers because of this.

the hose feeds air into your engine also, like i said you can also buy a breather for your car and you won't need the hose

it should be like 5 dollars at your local carparts store
after that your intake should be straight
---Edit---
if you can't afford one try to make the intake set-up with a blowby hose, but try to make it with just one coupler so it doesn't stick out and just goes straight. I'm sorry if i was there it would be easy and i could help you out.

How would this affect the gas mileage?
And can you re-explain that, im not too familiar with the terms here.
a breather doesn't affect any gas mileage as to what a regular after market intake would do. You just stick in where the hose goes into your block/engine. And if you still have the stock intake why don't you just put back on the stock intake ?
