I need help putting together the intake.

Im back again, my car is not in the best driving state, as my intake is basically hanging off. I was always told around here you can rig the intake so it uses stock parts, can someone help me out with this? I am not entirely car literate. I will try to dig up my stock intake pieces later.

Thanks in advance. This is again pretty urgent, im trying not to drive because of this.

hm..i checked out your cardomain it seems like the intake doesn't exactly fit right.

you may have too many couplers on and thats making it stick out like that. Remember having the right intake and it installed properly can effect your gas mileage and car.

You may need to just take off one blue coupler and just make the intake point towards the open space

i remember i had the same problem lol it always use to fall off until i fixed it to look like the picture above and it was perfect after that never had an issue with the MAF.

I'm turbo now so the intake its a charge pipe

-----------EDIT--------

oo and you may wanna just disconnect the hose thats connected to your intake pipe and just get a breather its easier

no you don't need a new pipe. i have this exact intake kit, i bought it from ebay years ago cause i knew intake doesn't really do much to this car lol.

you just needa customize it to fit right. it'll work trust me

I mean the bracket that holds the intake up is snapped, so it hangs down, and the silver elbow pipe has a big nasty dent in it.

I dug up two stock snorkels (no idea how i got two), how do i rig up an intake using what i have? I was always told its really good on here, better than stock.

well a intake does the same as stock intake, Cold air intake does help so it pulls in denser air, but than again if you read ambys thread he barely saw any gains whatsoever. And a good/clean filter makes a difference also.

and all i did was just tighten the clamps real good and the intake just held up real nice without the bracket point outwards towards the fan.

You need the proper intake piping. Appears the one you have is totally not right for the car itself. Go to your local Autozone or to K&N's website and order the intake kit for your year. Comes with all the proper piping, clamps, couplers that you will need to install plus directions on how to take off the stock intake and hook up your new one from start to finish. Hope this helps and good luck.
Here's a link to my thread. Scroll down to the pictures I posted. Last one I have has a good view of my intake set up and what the piping and every thing looks like. If you need a better pic, PM me and I'll send one to you that has a bigger/closer view of the intake.

I cant pay for much right now, im on a very tight budget (college). I remember reading on here about a fix where you can use the stock snorkel, MAF adapter, and somehow rig this up with a filter into a very good working intake.

If you have to stock tubing that goes behind the MAF adapter, you can definitely do it. You can easily attach it all to stock but just put the aftermarket filter on the front of the MAF and have the filter attached to the snorkel by zip ties or the filter box. I'm sure some one has a set up like that. It was one I almost did but the intake only cost me $150 shipped with piping and all. Good thing to have buddies that manage Autozone
If you need some help, just PM me with some pics of your set up and the stock parts you have and I'm sure I can lay something out for you.

i don't think you get what im saying, just look at my picture and try to make it like that. Take out the second coupler that you don't need and your intake should face out towards the the fan shroud. Your intake will still work it may not look all fancy but it works and its driveable. Just try it or get someone that knows to do it. Remember i have this exact same intake kit, i didnt even use the brackets cause when i installed it, it looked exactly like yours in the picture i did a few adjustments it worked out.

Your intake kit shouldn't hang down if its tight on the throttle body, well atleast mine didn't. Sorry if i still had the set-up i'd take photos for you.

----Edit----

Your intake set-up should look like this but not as curved as his, yours with the other blue coupler tooken off will be going straight.

That's just the way my piping came from K&N for my SRI. It shouldn't look exactly like mine with the same piping but it should look very similar to the placement. Hope you can fix it.
