For now I have a Wix/NAPA Silver on.

Try to get Denso who make the OEM ones for our Lancers it has the largest filtering surface of any filter made, you can tell by just looking at the round O-Ring gasket. The dealer prices here are just too high. You can them in bulk here for cheap: http://www.densoproducts.com

Mobil 1 and K&N are just overpriced rebadged Champion Lab filters and are not worth the price IMHO.

Avoid Fram, Quaker State, Pennzoil and STP at all cost !

hm.. I didnt know that, maybe I will switch to OEM filters next time I change my oil. I always thought the Mobile filters were pretty small, I'm sure the filers are cheaper than the $10 mobile filters...

Its not how big the canister is, its whats inside that counts like bigger and denser filter pleats etc...

Heres a rundown on what is good and what is bad and save a few bucks while your at it ... checkout Toyota's Denso filter which is the same as Mitsu's OEM filter for review

Thanks for the info! I will be buying OEM filters after reading all that. I have known fram filters are crap, but I didn't think a filter would be better than the mobile 1.. haha and its cheaper.

Here Denso P/N 150-1010 at $4.25ea is the exact filter as the rebadged Mitsu Diamond Star OEM filter which costs twice the price here.

The oil is alright, but stay away from the Fram filter, Purolator(Pure Oil Later) is your best filter for price and quality !

Cool thanks! I will call the stealership this week just to see what their price is for OEM, I hate waiting for things to ship.

Anyways these will Last 5K miles right? Thats how long I run my synthetic before I do a change.

Actually even will regular oil, it should last well past 8,000km and even more for synthetics to 15,000km, but it is the filter that needs to be changed at 5,000km. With the cost of filters here so inexpensive, garages will change both the oil and filter at the same time. I think car manufacuters will soon tell us to change the oil at 7,000km as an enviromental issue and it will score points with consumers as a selling point !
