Your going to lose about 20-30% on your mileage but the price difference basically makes it a wash. Don't forget guys, if you live up north where it's a bit colder, there could be three different mixes of E85, a summer, winter and fall. If you fall into this category, get a tune on 93 octane to run during the winter if you were tuned on a particular mix of E85. I just got my engine built and tuned on
E85 and also 93 pump. My car made 426/425 with the Green turbo. I'm shooting for 10's!!!!!

I'll let you know on my drive home from Buschur Racing tomorrow. When I drove the 230 miles to drop it off, I was getting 26mph on the highway. I'm figuring about 19 to 20 on the way back. It's all worth it thought with the increase in power, I don't have to worry about the alky kit not working like it did on several occassions. Plus, with the price difference in gas, your really not losing anything. You just have to make a couple more stops for gas on long trips. Throw some extra tanks in the back and you'll be good to go.

I used to average 17-20mpg on pump 93 octane in the city, now on E85 its more like 13-15mpg.

Well getting back to the Lancer topic What size injectors do you think you'll need for it if you have to go larger?

Sorry guys for getting a bit off topic. Just trying to help a fellow mitsu owner out. My last response and back on topic!

I added 1000cc injectors and a double pumper fuel pump. That's it! That's all I believe they recommended. No fuel lines or anything else. Hope this helps and good luck on your choice. I'll let you know how the car feels tomorrow.

Methanol is also bad on rubber lines, gaskets, and seals. Ethanol hasnt caused any of these issues in any car we have done or my personal or Lucas' personal Evo.

To answer the other question...

To run E50 (or some approximate value) you will need to put larger injectors in, a fuel pump, and retune. At that point you might as well run straight E85 or E98 and then tune just for that. The octane level is rated at 105 motor octane for E85 and somewhere (depending on who you listen to) 113 and 120 motor octane. Remember that motor octane is the minimum value the fuel will be and research is the maximum. When we buy 91-93 octane it is an average of those 2 values.

Boosted cars thrive on it, and I would suspect a properly built NA motor would as well (higher compression and larger camshafts) if everything was developed around the fuel.

Ahh, see I've always been told E85 was very corrosive and eats metal like no tomorrow.

Sorry for not doing my own research and misinforming ^_^

Capslock = cruise control for awesome.

I never knew using alternate fuels could produce so much horsepower. But I guess its like running straight racing fuel, just a lot cheaper to fill up.

How much is e85 per gallon? There aren't any places around here that I am aware of that sell it.

Well basically it is because it has a higher octane level...

Yeah, that's what I meant by saying its like running racing fuel, because of the increased octane.

Still some nice hp/tq numbers either way.
