E85
I have a few questions about E85...
From what I understand it's pretty much the same as if not methanol. (From what i was told)
Sooo...would it be safe to run a mix of E85 and premium like 50/50?
What about for boosted applications?
Asking because here in the south gas shot up close to $5.00 a gallon and E85 is about $3.80 so any kind of padding to the tank would help a lot.
Thanks!

I was told by an evo owner that you must change out your fuel system (pump and lines) and there is a certain mixture you use with premium. He said theres actually a boost in performance with it.
yea it'll supposedly eat through your stock lines. There's a lot of info on it in the alternative fuel section in the Evo section. If you make the switch you might as well go fuel E85

People run meth all the time on evos. No one with a lancer yet. I'm sure there's plenty of tuning involved. But I believe you can run meth if you get the car tuned for it.
E85 cleans the tank out and can plug the fuel filter but it doesnt eat through anything like steel or aluminum. Methanol on the other hand is highly corrosive to aluminum and can eat holes in it if left on exposed surface without running gas back through it. Methanol is also bad on rubber lines, gaskets, and seals. Ethanol hasnt caused any of these issues in any car we have done or my personal or Lucas' personal Evo.
To answer the other question...
To run E50 (or some approximate value) you will need to put larger injectors in, a fuel pump, and retune. At that point you might as well run straight E85 or E98 and then tune just for that. The octane level is rated at 105 motor octane for E85 and somewhere (depending on who you listen to) 113 and 120 motor octane. Remember that motor octane is the minimum value the fuel will be and research is the maximum. When we buy 91-93 octane it is an average of those 2 values.
Boosted cars thrive on it, and I would suspect a properly built NA motor would as well (higher compression and larger camshafts) if everything was developed around the fuel.
Wow, barely?

tons of ppl are running e85 as their DD gas. It's about the same as running MS109 race gas, and no it won't kill your lines, there's been tons of testing at RRE, TT, and many other evo shops in socal.
All you need is a fuel pump, injectors, and a tune. and whatever mods you wanna chuck on to get the most outta the gas

I just recently converted to E85 and I am in love. Only thing that sucks though is the gas mileage, but when I'm having this much fun and making a lot more power, I just don't care:
