warranty questions

i'd like to hear from more people on warranty experiences :

do the aftermarket companies typically cover not only their own parts from being defective or breaking, but also the parts they're on? for example, if i buy a turbo from some compnay like rrm and it broke and/or damaged the motor? would they pay for a turbo replacement/repair and/or the motor itself?

what have you experienced as far as dealer warranty coverage? when has mitsubishi dealers/authorized service centers covered a part and when did they turn you down?

Mitsubishi draws the line at turbos....as far as I know intake, exhaust and lowering is permissable.

No one in the world will cover any warranty if you blow your motor with an aftermarket turbo.

Use common sense if your buying a turbo for your car...break it in properly, use the correct gas, maintain it and don't run boost about 6 psi.

unless the service dept guy is your father or uncle or something, you will get laughed at and told to deal with it yourself, but like spool said above, if you get a turbo, take care of your car adn you should be ok

Just to add on to my earlier comment.

Nitrous kits automatically void the warranty on the engine, regardless if you've never used it, don't have a bottle or whatever. If the dealer see's a NOS or NX sticker and all those funny lines going to your car.....no warranty.

Aside from that Nitrous and the 4G94 don't mix...just ask around, some people blew 2 engines before they realized this.

My understanding is that aftermarket parts void warranty only on parts they directly affect. For example, lowering your car would void most suspension parts, since the harsher ride would be harder on the suspension. As for the aftermarket companies warrantying anything, I wouldn't count on it. Everybody knows that a turbo on a non-turbo car is going to put a toll on the engine. As said above, 6 psi is ok but any more is pretty demanding. The warranty is a way of promising reliable transportation, while aftermarket mods put extra stress as a sacrifice for speed and/or handling. That's why race cars don't have a warranty, or why performance tires have less mileage warranties than touring tires.
