Getting Cruise Control..

I got really used to having cruise control with my rental after the wreck. So now I am determined to get it installed on my 03 Lancer ES. I called a dealer and they told me $399 and they wouldn't tell me where to get the kit. I used to see them on ebay for under $150 - Also someone mentioned because its aftermarket it might be hard on the car. Is that right?

I have a aftermarket on my 97 jeep wrangler, it works fine having aftermarket but where u notice it is on hills, mine tries to over correct and i come over the top of hills going about 3-5 miles an hour faster than i have it set for. But it quickly goes back to the set point. I have seen a cruise control on lancershop.com but i dont know if its compatable with an ES u would have to look, and i think its around $270-280ish

Heres my main reason for wanting cruise control, I speed 100% of the time- it just feels natural- I hope to cut that down a little bit by installing some CC-- plus I drive hours every day-- driving to KC tomorrow-- Im going to hold off on buying it until I find the best option though-- if anyone knows of any Cruise Controls that fit an 03 Lancer ES for $200 or less-- post a link-- Thx

Have you thought about buying the parts off of a wrecked lancer at a salvage yard? Might be cheaper than aftermarket even.

I'm really hoping to get the kit out of the box but I might have to check out the junkyard as a last resort. Google sucks right now I can't find jack related to this.. if anyone knows anything please share.

I used to sell aftermarket ones by Motorola (I think) years ago at Pep Boys. They had a tendency to fail, but it sounds as though there are good kits out there. If it where me though, I'd just get a decent radar detector... which is what I did.
