Dammit

Look what nice gift I got tonight...

Yep, neighbor backed into my car... leaving a nice crack in the rear bumper. Good thing I had to go out so I saw it almost immediately, like 30-40 minutes after it happened. I was able to spot the tire trails into the snow so I new it was the Nissan Quest in the pic that did it. Took a lot of pictures before I went to see her.

She did admitted her fault and I will be calling my insurance company tomorrow. But since we have that no-fault thing up here, I might end up leaving it like that cause I don't want to have a reclamation in my insurance history for a small thing like that, I was planning on having my insurance fix my windshield, which was my other gift this week-end...

Why does stuff like this always happens to those who take the most care of their cars? I took a 300km trip over the week-end to wash and wax the car, and this is what I get in return....

I ride the MARTA (atlanta transit system....train) to get downtown to atlanta just about everyday.

it scares the crap out of me to leave my car in their parking garage.

Two days ago I was inspecting my car and found red paint all over my bumper and back side of my car where somebody scraped against it getting in or out of a parking spot--I was pissed.

I spent 3 hours scrubbing it down, and I luckily got off all the paint, wasn't a single mark left on the car other than that little paint that i was able to fully remove, thank god. But had I ever seen someone do that crap, and just drive off like "oh well!" i'd get their license plate number and hunt them down lol.

that sucks that your car got hit but at least you know who did it (even if she didn't willingly admit it to you until you confronted her...that's pretty ****ty of her)

So yeah, it sucks, but i'll have to live with it for now and maybe get it fixed when winter is over, or course, paying for it myself. I still have to go see her tonight to make arrangements, hopefully she will offer something...

we have no fualt insurance here, but it doesnt work that way, no fault is more or less for settlements between insurance companies. You the buyer of the insurance are protected. Especially if the other party is at fault. Second this is a property damage issue, not a road accident. so it is going to be comprehensive claim. If I were you I would call your insurance company.

your premium can not or at least should not go up because its not a accident claim.

Well, I did called my insurance company (broker is a family's friend) and it might be considered a hit and run, but it's still the same and my insurance pays for my damages, and it puts a reclamation in my name making me loose my "no reclamation" rebate (I think it like 10-15% so roughly $100-150).

Since I was planning on having my insurance company cover my windshield replacement, I cannot go thru with this one (having 2 reclamation would really make my premium raise, as much as 150$ per year, during 4 years).

So I'll mostly go thru my body shop contacts and have it repaired after winter if I'm not able to cover it up enough myself.

Insurance laws suck in Quebec.
