I know I'm going to get flamed for this...
...but I'm going to give it a shot.
I'm all the way over from the S2000 boards. I've been with those guys for almost 2 years now. I'm still in college and I seriously wanted to buy an S2000. But looking at it, I need something more practical. I was thinking about a WRX, but I wanted more power. That's where you guys come in.
I'm seriously thinking about the US Spec EVO or even the STi, if that ever gets here. The STi is all rumors, from the power output to the release date and I really need a car soon.
I've heard some bad things about mitsubishi and their cars and about reliability issues and such. No flames intended, just a careful buyer for this car will be a car that I will keep for quite a long time. Are there imminent reliability issues with the EVO in other parts around the world? How are Mitsubishi cars in general?
If reliability was a good, strong point for this car, I'm going to go put my **** on the waiting list.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
Bryan

Hey mrkim82,
I can't directly answer your question since I never drove a Mitsu before (but have an Evo on order as we speak), but I can say this, something you might not necessarily like:
The Evo is as much rumors as the STi, from power output to release date.

The WRX STi is more of a done deal than EVO. STi will be here November with all the goodies that was taken off from the regular WRXs in Japan (Brembos, recaros, 260+ hp). But like everyone else said, both cars still have many uncertainties.

I spoke to a scooby rep at the Long Beach sema show.He said the STI would come as a 04 in Sept of 03.It would have 261 hp;price $35k,BUT ONLY 750 UNITS.Can you say dealer markup!I know this is not confirmed, but makes sense.
Hello EVO,here I come.

Oh i forgot to ask you guys about the interior and the ammenities on the current gen EVO's. Are they nice? Plasticky? Cheap? Nicely furnished? I don't know much about the EVO besides the chassis, engine, track experience, etc. The daily driveabilty and stuff about daily life is new to me.
