interior

first off, evos are better all around performers than any of the cars mentioned. reliability, I've owned an eclipse, a mirage, and now an evo V. the eclipse, I had no serious mechanical problems and it has 190+k on it. the mirage, 124k on it and no serious problems. the evo, 31k and no probs. the probs I saw in the eclipse and the mirage were that the trannies were a little funny. the syncros in certain gears would have problems. in the eclipse, I grind in 3rd gear in high RPMs and quick shifts. 4th was bad on the mirage. evo is fine for now. but many cars can have syncro problems. the performance in the evo is far greater than any cars mentioned from the factory. but I'm not sure how the US version will be. interior wise on the V, just look at a mirage. it's the same. but the doors seems heavier and the feel for the car is much different (more solid). but the evo VIIs interior has a more grown up look. hope that helps

mrkim82,
I've owned my Evo 6 for 19 months now and have put 41,000 miles (65,600 km) on the clock with no problems at all.

It gets driven every day and has been modified with exhaust, induction kit, boost controller etc and is still very easy to drive. The only slight problem with everyday driving is the suspension as it is very hard but you do get used to it

The interior is plasticky and very black but you don't buy a car like an Evo for the interior. The engine, gearbox and suspension setup is where all the money has been spent and that's what makes it such a good car.
If you want something with a flashy, comfy interior then go buy a BMW.....

Bryan, you traitor!

Why do you need to be practical?

The Evo is the OFFICIALLY STATED car. The STi will be here, but no one knows when. I have heard anything from Nov 02 to Sept 03 so who knows..I think sometimes next spring of 03.

The Evo DOES indeed look better and with its active diffs is a "better" awd system. My point is this...how many can actually get the car to its MAX performance to be able to say one is better than the other? I would say...maybe a handful on this board...MAYBE. I test drove an STi and WHOA MAN that car flys! I can only imagine something "better" than the STi.

Personally, if the Evo is reliable..then I will go with that..if its not..STi ALL THE WAY!

Another thing to think of is no matter what number you are at a dealer as long as you work with a dealer who orders the cars then it doesn't matter. I have my name and money with a dealer already for the STi. Basically if 1000 cars (or whatever) come next year, then those who have pre-ordered with dealers are guaranteed to get that car. For example, if a dealer is allocated 2 cars, but has 4 people ordered and a deposit down, then the dealer will now get 6 allocated cars and the extra 4 does NOT go against the total 1000 for that year. So, my suggestion find a good dealer who is not gonna go past MSRP and pre-order.

Another thing I wanna mention is if reliability and performance being the same check out both the STi and the Evo when they come out..so put your name on both. I have on the STi and LOVED it...now I need to check out the Evo and compare.

Claudius, at 20K kms thats not really that many miles...around 12K miles if I am correct. At 12K miles even a Yugo should appear reliable..no offense!

Like I have said before...if the Evo comes from the Diamond Star Motors crap of talon/eclipse and 3000gt..then forget it...its not worth the money to have a car that all of a sudden dies for no apparent reason.
