09 Lancer Sportback factory factory black out kit????

Been reading around this forum and others. It seems like trying to black out the front bumper for the ralliart look has gotten me to think that i could easily paint the front with black paint or even plastic dip sprays found here - http://www.lancertuners.com/forums/v...st=0&sk=t&sd=a

But i just want to ask if anyone has gotten the factory black out kit? How does it look?

i would say, do a wet app with vinyl.

the piece will run you $6-8, and personally it only took me 15 minutes to apply and trim.
that being said, i had a lot of practice vinyling my own roof and the material for that only cost me $50

there's a bunch of new accessories added on to the Mitsubishi Lancer website, such as Decorative Front Bumper Black Film, Front Black Out Kit, and the rear diffuser. The only thing is that they don't show any pictures for these. My local dealer didn't have any either. Does anyone have any pictures of what these look like? The rear diffuser sounds like it would be awesome, I'd like to see it.

I think it would be better to do it yourself I was thinking that I would go the safe way and order the kit thinking it would cover it good but left spaces around the edge were you can see the color don’t get me wrong still looks good but for the price it is not worth buying b/c it’s not even a clean fit the RRm kit came with the replace grill and vinyl I think if I would do it again I would just paint the grill myself and buy my own vinyl lot cheaper

I tried a vinyl piece that I bought from ebay. I had it installed by a shop (same shop that tinted my windows) and it looked like s**t.

I ended up paying 120$ CAN (80$ for vinyl (precut to "fit") + shipping and 40$ for install) for something that I removed 2 days later.

I painted the grill and the bumper center piece with spray paint. Cost me like 10$ and it looked MUCH better.

Yes I will have to retouch it once a year or so because of the harsh weather in quebec. The paint will eventually chip with time, but for 10$ a shot I don't mind. + I like working on the car. I didn't use a clear coat which I will try next time.

If you go with vinyl do NOT buy precut. I would go with a whole piece and trim it as you go. Or have it installed by a shop and they will be able to make it fit correctly.

my .02

Yea seriously, I was so pissed when I saw the result. There was red sticking out from all the sides (since my car is red).

When I wrote a message to the guy on ebay to tell him how much this product sucked ***** he said "i don't understand where the red you are talking about is coming from"........

I didn't even bother to reply.

If you relocate your license plate to the side, what do you use to plug the holes in the bumper?
