They are totally fine cars. Just don't be convinced that it's a "sports" car. It is sporty in that it has cosmetic additions, reasonable power in 09GTS, and a great chassis. It's not a civic si, cobalt ss etc.

The paint is a problem but my car really has been ok. A little touch up here and there and that's it.

Since you said it will be a commuter car and family roadtrip car, I think its a good idea! Mitsu can be a pain with warranty work, but so can many other dealers. I may not purchase another Mitsubishi because of this aggravation, but thats mainly because I would never buy another Mitsu and keep it stock. If you aren't going to mod it extensively and find a cool dealer, you could be totally fine.

You've got a great deal on your hands... and the lancer is worlds more comfortable than a corolla, sentra, cobalt, civic etc. Get the GTS in 5spd and I bet you will be satisfied.

-How is Mitsu on backing its warranty? Honestly the best part of the car. Are loaner cars par for the course here or is that a dealer to dealer thing?

-Given the car is brand new, a great deal, and has a [supposedly] great warranty, would you do it over again and buy a Lancer? Or have you learned from your mistakes and take a different car home, even if it cost you more and had a standard/average warranty?

TIA
-I have a few chips on my side skirts and rear fender, nothing too noticeable but still slightly disappointing. For the money you can save from buying the lancer you can get a decent clear coat applied.

-The warranty is mainly up to the specific dealer to back... Some dealerships are going to be douches and others will help without any shenanigans.

-I am mixed about the car. I would love to have seen more power to compliment the aggressive styling but I also can't complain since it has been extremely reliable. Low tire pressure gauge is awesome! I wanted a MS3 but couldn't afford insurance at the time. Overall I like the car a lot.
