I don't know how some of these kids do it, but I deal with 'em all the time, and I don't know how many 15-16 year olds I have buying turbos, exhaust, superchargers... whatever. It's ridiculous, but I don't really care how they do it, as long as they pay me hehe. I'm also an insurance agent, so I can asure you that you are right that it's the young guys wrecking their cars that drives your rates way up... But most of all what drives your rates up, at least 33% of your rate anyways, is insurance fraud. So blame it on that mostly

It's call rich parents... well, for 99% of them anyways...
Time like this when a college grad having difficulties finding a decent
job a 15 years old is not gonna make 30k flipping burgers...

mechanix, driving civic/camry for years is not gonna help you with
the EVO...

silverEVO, same applies to your FWD RSX... many crashed S2000
owners come from 1st time RWD owner...

Maybe I could pay for my insurance year in advance... before kids
driving up the rates like the Integras and WRXs...

Well, there's is some young kids that can handle the Evo, but they are professional racers. For anyone who doesn't even have a driving licence, it is ridiculous to say that they can handle an Evo. YOU CAN'T!! And now don't think I'm talking down to you, know it!!
Seriously, I would've killed myself driving the Evo at 18, let alone at 16!!!! Even at 22 it would've been quite dangerous.
Get some slow car to pratice first, the E46 M3 is a good choice.

In the new Road & Track one guy says about the Evo 7...

"A rally car for the road. Extremely quick in steering and acceleration. Bring your driving ability and you'll be rewarded, handsomely. Not for entry level drivers." - Bert Swift

"Edgy, edgy, edgy. Knife edge balance means you drive either super-tidy, or toss and catch with the throttle; there's no middle ground." -Douglas Kott

Doesn't exactly sound like a car for you.

Holy ****e...and Evo as a first car? Dayam...just some kid who's gonna race anything and everyone on the street that so much as leaves an intersection before he does. Christ...I know that at 16 I would've been a danger with that thing, chalk it up to adolescent naivety. Now maybe an Evo would be ok, but I'm only 18...expensive such expeditions are. I think a faster car like a 'tegra GS-R or an Civic Si or a Focus SVT would be much more acceptable sporty substitutes in lieu of an Evo. I need rich parents...

Get whatever you want, as long as you have the money. If your loaded then who cares if you screw it up, just buy another. The only reason people say "Dont get it" is because they cant have it themselves, if someone presented them with a new Evo as their first car, they would take it everytime.

Theres a fine line between driving wisely and driving stupid. An evo as a first car would be a big step up from nothing. It would take some time to get use to the gearing, the throttle and so forth, but if you practice is big areas and so forth, what makes the evo such a bad first car? but i do understand giving so much power at the turn of the driving age requires experience.

I say it bc they are a danger on the street, and a reason the insurance will be so high. No young kid should own a sports car as their first car. Having a fast car and being young and immature do not mix. You're lying if you said you never liked to show off to your friends and girls when you were young, just think what happens when the kid is strapped into a 280hp awd rally car. If I want to get an evo 7 when it comes out I can afford one, so its not that

No I'm surround ny rich highschool kids...they scare me. The one kid has a mustang...he's always doing burnouts in the street...hasn't done a straight one yet, ends up in somes ones yard pointed the opposite way every time The go racing up and down the streets all day and night while little kids are out playing Wish darwinism would work on them...yet the truly stupid never get hurt, they only kill others.
