question about hid kits
question about hid kits
I just started looking into hid kits for my car and wanted to get some basic information because of the wide range of products out there. I tried searching for answers to my questions but didn't come up with anything. I was wondering what are the basic things to look for when shopping for an hid kit? I mean the kids range from $60 all the way to $300 so what are the differences? Is it just more for a reputable brand? Thanks in advance for the help
anyone...?
also i see so many cars on the streets with their headlights on even in the daytime cus they can't turn them off... is that a problem i would have also? and i hear that there is a flickering problem with the 9007's but can be fixed using a relay. so do the hid kits come with this relay or we have to buy it seperate?

if you're gonna do it, do it right. no cheap hid kits cause theyll burn out real quick and the quality isnt all that great. projectors is a plus because without them you blind hella people. i had a set on my 240sx with flip up lights and the beam shot everywhere like crazy!! so i took it out and tossed it lol. goodluck!
yes i'm planning on getting projectors for the hids. as far as cheap kits... thats what my question is... how do you figure out which kits are cheap and which are good quality ones?
I think you might have seen the meltage thread I posted... HIDs range in quality. you want to stick with an HID company that has a good record and has been around for a while. I see alot of people buying hids and it gets to them in a plain white box, no instructions but the person pushing it on you says they are japanese. That may be possible, but there is no info about warranty claims, trouble shooting or anything.
I dont sell HIDs or anything, but I can say I do endorse XenonDepot because they have been around since I think 2001. I know Club RSX which has a large local chapter here in Toronto has them as a perfered hid brand and they look great. Alot of the people who bought their kit like 4 or 5 years ago, are only now having bulbs finally burn out. Not everyone, but its hard to go on their and find someone say negative things about them. I myself, am happy with the quality, Same goes for those in our local lancer car club. we had a recent photoshoot, and there are more planned but the 3000k is amazing, but many like the crisp colors of their kits 8000k and 5000k are popular.

My ebay HID, which costed me $75 including shipping, has lasted me a year and 3 months now, which is about the same amount of time as my $250 kit I got from a local tuner shop. I am also using projectors and the D2S plugs (also from ebay) haven't melted one bit.
