Question how to go about a deposit at MSRP?

hey,
i was wondering how those of you who have deposits on the EVO at MSRP went about negotiating it?
did you include options and/or extras in the agreement? how do you make sure that the dealer doesnt go through any loopholes around the agreement?
other things we should know before talking to the dealer? and during?

anything further input would be greatly appreciated..

thanks

I got my MSRP Evo at Boch Mitsu in MA, which is on the list of MSRP dealers in Forum. Anyway, I didnt know they were a MSRP dealer when I paid my deposit and when I found out, I went back and I signed a contract with them and that was that. Anyway, I donno if Boch Mitsu still take deposit at MSRP, I put my money down back in Feb. I talked to the General Manager just today and He told me that people who pre-ordered Evo(deposit paid) will have the chance to customize their car with different options which are gonna be mitsu installed when Detail of spec, option, final price and dealer allocation number comes out in August and Deliver date will be mid-Dec before Christmas, a hell of Chrismas present for myself I must say.

sorry to hear that, I would suggest visit some mitsu dealers around you and get to know some of the sales and service people, which I found is really helpful.

yeah, i tried that like a week or two ago.
most of them.. well like 5 or so . i left my #. a few told me to call back in a month or so when they plan to take deposits... a big dealer told me some BS like. yeah, its 39,999 for the car. with and expected markup of 10k.. "you do know what a deposit is right?" not very friendly.. the only dealers that i have hope for are the "out of town" dealers.. like the ones i have to drive and hour or two to get to.

referring to your response.. so, when we put a deposit down, we have to tel him the color and model that we want at that moment? and then they order it? what else? (i never made a deposit for a car before )

thanks

when I put my deposit down, I was asked what color I wanted and type of Trans. And they'll order the car when the full spec comes in August, then I'll need to go in and pickout the final options, color etc....and Negotiate the final price, at which point I will be already to take Delivery in Dec. That how the general manager told me, but might be different from where you live. As far as I know, GSR and GTA are gonna be the only models.

the final price is MSRP plus the options I would want. I probobly wont get any additional options since the Evo is pretty loaded (I hope). But all the options that I decide to get will also be at MSRP. When I said 'Negotiate' I was refering to payment options and interest rates.
