Lancer GTS 2010

Hey guys, I am planning to buy a Lancer GTS 2010 soon. I am wanting you guys input on the GTS if you have one. The cons or pros of the car. Do you enjoy it or do you regret buying it?

Thanks everyone!

Excellent car, specially the 2010, which now includes ESP and TCS for added safety, and also upgraded interior. The audio (Rockford fosgate) is superb, and has been improved a bit for 2010. Also new for 2010 is the colour information display, which looks superb. If you like driving your car in a sport manner, get the manual, as the CVT was designed towards comfort. I got the CVT, but I don't drive quick, I only cruise at about 50 mph , and its great for that. It also has its cons, such as the seats, which are ****, they get full of lint, if you can buy leather DO IT. Paint is weak as also the exterior panels are.

FYI: I got the 2009 model, which is essentially the same, minus minor upgrades.

I have the 09 as well. I really enjoy the Manual tranny. I will never buy a CVT, it's really slow compaired to the manual tranny. There are lots of new mods for these guys if your into that.

Only complaints are chips. But you can easily get the rally mud guards for that. The cloth seats aren't that bad. But it is true, they do collect a lot of lint.

i have an 08 lancer GTS, and to be honest, I think it will be the last Lancer I ever buy, reasons are:

1. The doors sheets are ultra thin, even light taps from other car doors will leave a dent.
2. Loud interior, driving 70mph on freeway makes driving soooo uncomfortable, the wind/road noise, mitsubishi did nothing for sound insulation.
3. Plastic parts from the interior rattle everywhere! (you will find people complaining about this all over the forum)
4. Thin/Bad paint on the car, I have a bunch of small scratches from small pebbles or my backpack rubbing against it.

I do admit, it is a fun car to drive, but if you are looking for a car that you're going to drive for years I would look into buying another car.
I wanted the lancer so bad when it came out, but looking back now I would have definitely gone with another car.

I do agree on the door sheets, I have 3 dents on the door so far. LOL
Interior is loud on the highway, but I think that has to do with my tires all wornout.

About the rattles, so far my lancer have held up pretty well.. I don't hear any significant rattles anyone would expect from our cars. I think the only annoying "rattle" so to speak of was on the radio panel where you press against your finger to change stations, that squeaks like heck. lol

dont get me started on the paint. lol. all i think about is that all cars are bound to have paint/rock chips at some point in their lives.

The only regret I had when I bought the car is the CVT. should've got a manual. CVT's make your car slower than an 89 camry off the line regardless of horsepower.. You can't go wrong with the design, the car even if its a regular lancer still turns heads, maybe not as long as the evo but still.

CVT's will be slow if you drive slow. For a manual, its really up to you but you won't feel that "bog" that everyone with a CVT is talking about. I take it you have the manual gts. trust me. try driving my car after you have driven yours. YOU WILL FEEL THE DIFFERENCE.

Overall, happy with GTS...

- Agree with the noise issue. I've placed dynamat on the door panels (double layer, one on the outside sheet metal and one on the inside panel), parts of the trunk and under the floor carpets... Doing doors had the added benefit of really adding "mass" to the feel of the door - no more cheap sounds when you tap on it and it closes with a real solid feeling "thud" (people have commented on it)... Overall, it helped but honestly not as much as I was hoping... Apparently, the 2010 GTS has the option of thicker windshield glass to help with highway noise.

- Also sprayed rubber undercoating in the front wheel wells and the floorpan.

- So far, no rattles that "I couldn't fix"

- I absolutely prefer the manual... But this is a personal thing... If you have to CVT, you have to CVT.

- Build quality is not a Honda (Civic), but I do think the Lancer looks much better than the Civic and I pretty much bought it for that reason.

- Great warranty, but there's a lot of talk of Mitsu trying to get out of claims (or making it very hard to claim anything under warranty). Haven't had any warranty issues to test this yet (knock on wood).

Goodluck!

lol i dont think people should listen to you, if you think the CVT on this car is good as far as performance goes. you must have never driven many cars before.

the CVT tranny is by far the biggest disappointment to me. its a pig. you can stomp on the pedal from a stop and wait about a sec for a response to get on it. overall i would stay away from the CVT and get a manual. that and i wish the car had more power. 200 at the crank and a MT or a better CVT and the car would be a perfect DD

I live in altoona, pa and EVER winter since I bought this car in july 2007, I have had random paint chips from rocks and crap on the front of my car.... by the grill etc. so EVERY summer I have to buy some paint and touch it up. Its a real pain in the butt.

But I like everything else about the car. The paint just really sucks.

Save your money, get a ES and use the money you saved to put the mods you want. you can save some serious coin if you do that. Stereo system is over rated. you can get something aftermarket that can do more. Bodykit lip options are going to be crazy by summer and next year. So you can make your car feel and look like how you want it to.

If you get a GTS, you will harm your performance and mod buying power. Finally one mod which should be added is a sprintbooster for the CVT. Since the ES doesnt allow for manual control of the gears. A sprintbooster will give you a very responsive drive.
