Hey guys n gals, I"m trying to decide on which 2010 lancer to get. I'm stuck between the Sportback GTS and the ES sedan. I'm willing to get either manual or CVT, but I'm just trying to figure out which model first.

Now here's the deal. I like modding cars, but I like the slow gradual buildup it takes to get some stuff done. Having turbo'd a few integras before, I'd like to turbo my lancer, but after maybe 10-15k miles. I want to get used to the handling before I drop in a turbo. My problem is trying to decide if I want the GTS or ES. In my opinion, since it is a 2.4 in the GTS, you eventually have to option to make a little more power with time and money, but it's the 4B12 motor. The 4B11 motor is better known, and it seems that aftermarket parts are more available, and companies seem more willing to R&D stuff for it.

The reasons I'm not going for a Ralliart or EVO are because I'm 18(insurance would SKYROCKET) and my budget is under 21k.

Bottom line: GTS or ES for me? I want to mod it to be a zippy little car, take it on some mountain roads and enjoy the corners, but I don't want it to be a 5liter eater.
