Talking Lancer Crash Tests

Found these on a website about crash tests.

Pretty interesting.

This one is a 40 mph frontal.

This one's a 5 mph rear end.

actually, the lancer looks like it does pretty good in head on collisions. now if the other person was doing 40 mph into as well, thats a different story.

I backed up into a tree when I wasn't really paying attention, a little alcohol and nugget were involved but really I just wasn't paying attention, and the bumper only has a MINOR dent and few scratches. I was impressed.

That looks kinda....weird
when the lancer first came out, it was among the safest cars on the road.

Which strikes me as odd...what were the NIHS test scores? I don't recall Mitsu really pounding the safety issue home in the ads. I could be wrong, though.

I got rear ended in my OZ a week after buying it. I was at a stop light (red). We all started to go, then some guy cut infront of the front car. So he stops, next guy stops, I stop, guy behind me doesn't though (1998 Jeep Wrangler) He rear ends me doing maybe 5-10mph. Then guy behind Jeep rearends Jeep. When I was rearended, car slid forward about a half a foot or foot or so, so impact of car behind Jeep, never affected my OZ. Jeep by itself caused $3500 damage. The metal on trunk floor was rolled over about a half inch all the way across floor. The body shop had to stretch car back out. They said Jeep rear ending me made may car approximately an inch shorter. So even a little bump can do some damage.
