CAI question

I was wondering when you install your CAI, do you have to put the bottom plate in, the one between the filter and ground, if it was optional to put it back or not? Is it better to have it there?

Nope, and it will provide more airflow if you leave it out.

It will get dirty quicker, but as said above will give more air. I'd rather have the side grill removed (or replaced with a mesh) than the bottom plate, though. Just my .02

you do get more airflow but you are running the risk of water getting sucked in more easily.

There's a sticky or something in engine tech, explaining how rare it is to suck up water. You'd have to literally submerge the filter, in which case the mud plate wouldn't help.
