mitsubishi sells a kit now to prevent the shocks. It is an accessory for all lancers and is a little pad that gets fitted on the drivers door. You just touch it befor you get out of the car.

part number mz607231ex list price 24.95

This works 100% of the time. Dont waste $25!

what about putting gas containers in your car for your lawnmower, static electricity is known to have blown those little ****ers up.

but i have to say this but dont get offended, there's at least 10 threads about this..

WATER IS NOT NOR HAS IT EVER BEEN AN INSULATOR!

Water is a cunductor, therefore it helps to disperse electrostic energy. That is why you do not get zapped on rainy days. The car does not store the energy then discharge itself through you because the rain ( a conductor ) disperses it as it builds up.

The woman I bought the car from at the dealership even warned me about getting shocked. She said to touch the metal body of the car before opening my gas tank. lol

If you want to know how good a conductor or insulator water is, simply take a multimeter and try it in a glass of water.

Result? Perfect insulator, no conductivity at all.

No, don't take my word for it! Try it yourself!

WATER IS an insulator... tap water is not. Pure H20 can not and will not conduct electricity in any form of circumstance (until extremely high voltages are reached).

Common water that you run into like tap water, rain, etc has enough impurities and issues that it can and will quite easily conduct electricity.

Sorry.. had to correct you.

and this getting a shock thing in our cars and others has been covered about a half dozen times or better already...
