It is because of the cold and change in weather

coldness + dry weather = shock..water is actually an insulator soi that's why u dont get shocked as much in other seasons..

but i have to say this but dont get offended, there's at least 10 threads about this..

It doesn't seem to matter the weather for me. I get shocked almost every time. I just got used to it. Someone said a ground kit would help, but I'm pretty sure it's actually from built up static electricity with the seats and carpet. I bet you have cloth seats like most of us, right?

How To Stop the Shock:

1.) Goto Autozone
2.) Buy Rubber Floor Mats
3.) Replace Carpeted Mats with Rubber Floor Mats you purchased from Autozone
4.) Drive?

I had the carpet ones, shocked me all the time, went to Autozone, bought those R Racing Floormats and Steeringwheel cover, the Blue Ones since i like blue? lol. I also have the Red R Racing Mats/Cover in my old truck that doesn't run, so i could switch to red, and i might do that...everytime i goto wal-mart/autozone/advance auto parts, they NEVER have blue neons, only purple and red, its so gay! lol. One day ill get blue neons...and if not ill get red and switch the mats Or i'll switch them to see if the girlfriend notices lol

I was told by a reputable mechanic that a grounding kit wont fix the problem. I am interested in a solution too.

Is because the fabric on the seats is so crappy. As you move against the fabric, you create a charge. When you touch something grounded, like the body shell, which is grounded to to chassis, which is in turn grounded to the battery, you release the charge into the ground.

A lightning rod functions basically the same way. A metal object attracts the electrical charge and sends it down a metal cable into a ground source...in this case, the actual ground.

Wear lighter clothing with less surface area. Things like sweaters and thick shirts will create a larger charge, faster.

Also, touch the door frame BEFORE setting a foot on the ground. If you don't let go of the frame, you won't get a shock.
