Should I Buy a Test Pipe?

My main question is basically asking if a test pipe is worth the price and does it add any gains. I also want to know what kind of sounds this thing gives off because i dont need any exhaust sound. I mean does it sound like a $40 ebay exhaust or does it sound nice. Nothing too loud for the back. Im using stock exhaust all the way through and i have aem intake.

thanks.

Do you have any other modifications other than the CAI?

Then just save your entire exhaust system until then. Makes more sense to do it that way, no?

You'll be in need of an exhaust manifold, which hopefully will eliminate your first catalytic converter... Then maybe at that point you'll just want to go with a high flow cat with 2 3/4" piping to the back, or run a straight pipe if you're constantly on race gas and on a race track?

Running this setup, at this point, will only hurt your performance.

test pipe is alright if your looking for cheap gains, or trying to squeeze every inch of HP you can get on a track, my car right now is wide open except for a resonator, its alright, lots of smoke, kinda smelly, im replacing the entire system with a 2.5" downpipe, 2.5" hi-flow cat, 2.5" catback w/ just a muffler, i also have the header, to me, as a turbo, this is the best and most ideal setup, hp gain b/w test pipe and hi flow are minimal

the stink is coming... seriously, consider a random tech cat etc instead. I ran a test pipe for 3 months and am going back to a cat.

The only thing you may need to change is if you were to have a test pipe or cat, either or, the length of the downpipe rrms is made to fit the stock exhaust but if you were to get a longer downpipe ( like the one I have ) you would have to cut the TP a bit smaller I think the cat measures around 15 1/2 " Mine is a short TP i had to make 8" other than that thats the only modding of the exhaust that you would have to do as long as its a cat-back direct bolt on.

it will make you sound more high pitched......... keep the cash and save up for a high flow cat.
