2004 Lancer Question

I'm looking at buyings a 2004 Lancer OZ Rally and i was woundering if it takes the mods that the 2003 does? I'm a newb with lancers... but i'm familier with mitsubishi's as i already own a 91 Talon and used to have a 99 Eclipse GS. But i can't affort the ralliart otherwise i would buy it... My 91 will be hittin 170k by the end of this year so i would like to get rid of it while i can... Also I talked with Mitsubishi and they said the warrenty will be void if I modify the car unless i have Mitsubishi put the mods on the car for me. I'm going for the 2004 because i like it better and for the 10/100,000 powertrain warrenty because i put 15000-20000 miles on a car a year...

The 2004 Lancer will not work with 2002-2003 Lancer Parts. It's a whole new body chasis. www.roadracemotorsports.com are working on the new model. Parts will come out as time goes. Good luck man!

That is BS, by the way. The only way that an aftermarket part can void your warranty is if the part causes the problem. If you put on a new intake and it sucks something up that hurts the engine, that's your fault. If you put on a body kit and the engine dies, they are still liable.

I thought some of the engine mods will work with the 2004 because they have the same engine right? Isn't the ralliart the only one getting the 2.4?

Oh boy. NO NO NO. The Ralliart (which is more Eclipse'ish in construction: 5 bolt wheels, similar suspension, 2.4L engine) is the only trim level not compatible with current 02/03 modifications. All trims BUT the Ralliart (ES/LS/OZ) will be able to use the existing components. The only things I can see fouling that up would be the new bumpers messing up with exhaust placement (but that's probably still pretty damn close since everything else remained the same) and obviously, body kits.

Re-reading my post, it was unclear. I mean the non-ralliarts have the same engine as the 02/03. Thanks for clearing that up, Paul.
