Resonator?

Well, I just got a cheapo straight through Magnaflow muffler put on. The sound got alittle better, but it's still pretty quiet. I was told by the guy that I have a second muffler (the resonator) and if i take that out it will be even louder. But my friend said that it's annoyingly loud if i do. Anyone know how loud it's gonna be to replace the resonator with a straight pipe?

i had a magnaflow set up, and it didnt get annoyingly loud untill i removed the 2nd cat and added the headers.

The resonator did not do any difference in sound i thought.

2.5" Buschur cat-back before. Loud, but not annoyingly so. No resonator, just a Dynomax muffler.

2.5" Turbo-back, high flow cat, and the same Buschur cat-back. Loud, but not annoyingly so. The turbo does muffle exhaust a bit though.

Depending upon how sensitive you are to volume and pitch, you may love it or you may hate it. It's all taste vs tolerance when it comes to exhaust notes.

Yes, it's the part of the piping that bulges out (under the rear seats/trunk area). It's after the 2nd cat but before the muffler.

great words of advice, dont think anyone else could of said it better.

Like Hobie said, just go for what u like , and play around with it.

- - the resonator is like a little bit before the muffler and right after the 2nd cat... kind of looks like a muffler inbetween all the piping and real muffler and 2nd cat.

I replaced my stock resonator with a 4"x14" Maganaflow resonator/muffler. Keeps things pretty quiet, while definitely being louder and definitely sounding nice.
