Hey everyone. I'm new here and new to the Lancer as well.

Just bought a 2011 ES yesterday, and so far I love it!

However, this morning, my Dad noticed some paint issues on the left fender as he walked by.

It looks as if the fender was scratched in a few places, and they did a poor job of fixing/re-painting it. There are a few "rough" areas, which you can feel when you glide your hand over it. Those areas just are not as smooth as the rest. You can also see the scratches and the rougher areas, and I'll post pictures below.

We opened up the hood and checked the inner side, and it doesn't look as if it was bent in anyway. However, I'm still a little pissed off, because it's a brand new car and it's already damaged.

Is there anything we can do about it? I'll probably go back to the dealer tomorrow and have them take a look.

Oh, and can anyone point me to care/maintenance threads/sites? I want to take EXCELLENT care of my new Lancer, and could use some advice. You know, stuff that will keep it in good shape, proper engine operation maintenance, how to properly wash the car, ect.

so it's not brand new...probably got repaired maybe some minor damage like a bumper rub, or a grocery cart or something, and whoever did it did a bad job...but i've also seen really bad factory paint jobs...assembly line paint isn't like proffessionally hand painted at all, most of the time it's bumpy and "orange peely", i've seen that on mazda cars, fords, you name it...if you look really close there are usually imperfections in factory paint, but your pictures do look like a repair...

 

Quick Update: Dealer said they would replace the fender!
