dear friends: so long...
something somewhat amazing happened today...
i got up this morning and had received a letter from my mitsubishi dealer... they wanted to buy back my 2002 lancer. i had a feeling that it was a sales ploy, but i took my header off (left my rims like a dumbass) and went off to work while my parents took my baby over. they tried for about 2 hours to get them to take my car as trade in for an srt-4 w/ around the same payments (yea, right ur thinking.. but they got pretty close), but ended up dropping it. then they went to my #2 car: (i wasn't much on jumping ship so i stayed mainly w/ mitsu-line) an eclipse.
they ended up talking them down!!
the lancer was worth about $7000 kbb, and they paid it off. i drove it for a year w/ no payments, and they paid it off! we only paid $800 on it the entire time and they paid the other $14,200. the deal for this however is that we bought a 2003 mitsubishi eclipse gts....
either way, i'm pretty happy with it. 210 hp is a nice change from the 120 the lancer had... various other things i love as well (including the 3.0 v6).
on the down side....
i'm afraid i must now leave the forums. the only way i would really stay is if kk or someone else would allow me to post my eclipse up in the registry. it's kinda unheard of, but i really would rather not leave this forum. you guys rock! i'd like to give some shouts to people like JW, the whole RRM crew, urbanknight, pickleknock, and anyone that i may be forgetting. i love you all and it's been a rockin good time getting to know all of you.
the people of evolutionm.net are the LEAST biased people i've ever seen on the internet. nowhere else have i seen a car owner actually talk about how nice another car is... evo owners saying srt-4 is a nice car? what? haha... it rocks. thanks for being open minded.
just for the record, i have nothing that i'm parting out. the header is basically sold to a local... the cluster and rims went w/ the car. i'm prolly gonna be in the market for some bronze volks for my new baby tho.. most likely 18s =)

either way, i'm not crying.. well, hard yet anyway
my sister got one from volkwagen a while ago. i d ont know why they did this, but they offered to buy the car back for some weird reason and they offered a different car for my sisters +money. maybe they wanted some used cars to sell or something. i really dont know.

I get those letters all the time. Yes, they'll buy your Lancer back, but check to see just how they calculate your payments for your next car. A lot of the places now that will pay off your loan will just roll it over onto your new car payment so it's not like they're paying any of it off. You simply pay them instead.
And I didn't read into the sales ad much other than the dealership is wanting to buy up as many Lancers as possible to resell em since they're shorthanded on them. If I can find the latest flyer they sent me, I'll scan a copy of it.
