my SRI doesnt sit behind the batter, actually right to the side of it... not sure how much hot air vs. cold air is being sucked in. But, to answer your question

no not all SRI's sit behind the battery.

It won't matter much if it's behind the battery a little. I guess you could say it's further from the hot engine that way. And you could always route colder air in like engineerboy said. Here's a pic of one of my former setups. It went from the bottom left side grill up to the filter. I just happened to use the hole from the stock plastic scoop, but as long as you zip tie/wire/bolt it so that it faces the filter, you will get plenty of fresh air for it to breathe.

Here's a pic of my new setup, it's just zip tied in place (and works alongside the stock scoop). For reference, the previous picture was just 3" dryer ducting with a coupler cut into 4 slices to fit into the hole and a 3x9 funnel. This pic is 4" ducting with a similar funnel mounted underneath the car. I know these help because the filter got dirty quicker where the ducting pointed at it.

yeah im just gonna spend the $35ish on Ebay

there are 2 ebay intakes...one is just filter/adapter, the ohter is the filter/adapter and the piping to the manifold....

im going to get the one with the piping, than just route cold air to it total cost will be like $50+ and it will give me same gains (give or take 1hp) as the $160+ intakes...so...yeah

Edit: Urban..u can see the dirt on the filter

Yeah, actually it's oil from after I cleaned and oiled the filter. The dirty park stays darker, and the whole filter got a deeper red, so I guess not all the dirt goes away?

I might be selling my adapter and filter. It's quite like the custom job engineerboy made and are for sale on ebay. I'm buying an AEM CAI so I won't need it anymore and I barely used it for more than a month. Just check out what engineerboy did for his short ram and let me know if you'd be interested. I'd let it go for pretty cheap. Let me know.

I'll take a picture of the adapter and filter when I get home from work (5:30 EST). Price will be something like $10 plus shipping, which will be like $5 USPS priority. It's actually exactly like this ebay auction. Only I won't charge $12 for shipping. Let me see how much I paid for it new, and maybe I'll charge that amount shipped to your door as long as it's less then that ebay auction. I'll give you a better deal since it is used, even though it wasn't used much.

EDIT: I'll let the adapter and filter go for $15 shipped.

The MAS adapter plate that I have has a 4.5" opening, so you could buy any filter that will fit that size. As for K&N fitment, some part numbers that would fit that adapter are RU-3480 and RU-4260. Which are $32 and $34 from ajusa.com.

Yeah I'll sell it to you. I tried guessing your screen name as kromix, but no one is responding. Hit me up at mobilejay or jay0163 and we can talk more there.
