LED Footwell Lighting Problem
LED Footwell Lighting Problem
Hello all, this is my first post!
I have a question about wiring led footwell lights to the dome light for my 2011 Lancer. I pulled the dome light down and exposed 3 wires, yellow, red, and black. I tapped into the red thinking it would work but the leds never shut off.
I only want them to go on and off with the opening and closing of the door, exactly like the dome.
Has anyone done this wiring before? I was thinking about getting an add a circuit tomorrow to tap directly into the fuse but I just don't want to be spinning my own wheels.
Thank you.

Sorry to revive an old post but is there anyway to do this without cutting into any wires? I have mine all hooked up with the add a fuse to the dome lights but they get constant power so obviously there keep turning on.
Any help would be appreciated.

hook the power wire of the leds to the door pin wire. It is a negative trigger. look in the fuse box by the steering wheel, find the white 6 pin plug with yellow wire(you need the yellow wire in pin 5). hook the ground to that wire using a t tap and male quick connect.
I didn't want to cut into any factory wire. I have everything wired the way I want now but for some reason the ground isn't good enough or something. I have both wires into the white pin plug. The L.E.D. strips I have are multi color and light up blue and green real quick then to red like they are supposed to.
The reason I think it is the ground is because if I hook the ground right to the frame they light right up to red. If someone knows what could be causing that it would help.

If you only want the lights to be active when the doors are open, then hook the pos to a constant power supply, Add-a-line to the top 7.5 amp fuse, 3 amp to the LED. hook the ned to the yellow of the 6 pin and buda bing. Do not use a splice connector to the yellow as this MAY cause problems with your ECU down the road. Too expensive to risk. Pin connector down the side works
