Update on the new Lancer...
My car hit 587 miles today. Now that it has been broken in a little bit, I thought I would give you an honest opinion on what I think of it. When I first got it there were issues of leaning when taking corners to quickly, now that its a little worn in, those are not so noticable, but at the same time extremely thin tires are a big hassle. Numerous occasions when the road is wet the tires will just start spinning while trying to get traction, this is a big issue which will get even worse once snow starts falling. And whenever you take a corner doing more than 20 mph you here the screach of tires holding. The power issue of only having 120 hp, actually not that bad, I thought it would be much worse. I can happily say that I have beaten two civics (not by much, maybe half a car length, but thats not the point). The manual transmission flows like water, so much better than my old probe gt, which felt like the car was about to explode when ever you down shifted. At the same time those of you who are looking to race anything else besides a civic, you might need to invest into some aftermarket accessories before you take to the street. The 100 watt cd stereo, VERY IMPRESSIVE, while its not the most attractive deck it puts out good quality sound even when turned almost all the way up. It is just a little worse than my old stereo system 2 infinity 6x9 and 2 3&1/2's amped by a 4x100 PPI amp, but at the same time my old stereo cost me well over $500.00.
So overall for those of you who are looking for a first car and don't want something used or those who are looking for something newer, but don't want to spend to much, I would say it's a good car, and with a little bit of $$$ and some of your time you can add some aftermarket tricks to solve some of the issues. Well I hope this helps some of you out.....

Intake
Exhaust
Chip
Tint Windows
Sub/amp
Front Sway Bar
maybe coilovers (but I doubt, maybe just lowering springs)
and Bigger wheels
I dont have the money for turbo, cause you need intercooler and other parts. Plus I'm saving to buy a house so all the mods I'm getting are under 500.00 a piece besides the wheels.

I have a new 02 Lancer as well. I'm really anxious for the aftermarket parts for the Lancer to come out already. O yea, for my rims, im gettn 17' OZ F1 racing series in white w/ red lettering. Very sweeeeeeeet..

The OZ F1 wheels were used as the OEM wheels on the Evo5 GSR.
They are quite heavy though.
The RSX Type R in Japan seems to have the same OZ F1 wheels as well or looks the same.
Go for the OZ Superleggeras!! They are lighter and with lesser unsprung weight, you get better handling.

They were both the new style 2000 or newer, neither of them had anything aftermarket that I saw or heard, Just a lot of annoying stickers. One of them was an automatic, so he just didnt have the same pep you get from a stick the other, was a stick, and I have to say I beat the **** out of him, cause he obviously didnt know how to shift..... More or less they were both, all show no go.
