03 Lancer sloppy shifting????

I have an 03 Lancer OZ with 168K miles. The trans seems to be shifting slowly sometimes. It also just seems to act funny.. Kinda hard to explain. The fluid looks brownish. Would changing the fluid and filter resolve this problem??

I read your post after i started this thread. I bought this car cheap ($400) and I like it but im not sure if i want to drive it every day or just sell it and make some money. I just found out the timing belt has never been done! and with the trans being sloppy (even tho it really isnt that bad) i dont know is its worth putting the money into.

My brothers automatic 03 ES never had timing belt changed, and never flushed the trans and he got to 186K, but same problem with trans was happening past 130k. He also had RRE Polyurithane motor mounts... which id guess assisted in the shifting problem. His would lag and then slam into gear. Same problem your seeing?
