'03's in the House!
'03's in the House!
Hey everyone. I thought you'd all find this interesting. A transporter is unloading '03 Lancers at our dealership as I type this, so I went and snapped a couple of shots of a Phoenix Red one. Haven't gotten one with a sunroof yet. Stay tuned.
Back end.
And the back end. I always order a few without spoilers because I figure some people want to buy their own, and we've yet to find a good source for exclusive looking aftermaket spoilers that we'll install ourselves. When I get one cleaned up with all the tape taken off, I'll post some more.
so it looks like they are exactly like the 02's . . . except there is a sunroof option now?? - - damnit, why couldn't the 02's have come with a sunroof . . . .
. . . not too crazy about the red either . .

Red is good.
I'm usually not a big fan of red either, but it does look good on the EVO7, and on this Lancer. This picture (and the protective tape) don't do it justice. As far as wing's go...what type of wing would guys like to see as OE on a OZ? Evo7 style (Sharkracing)? Carbon fiber GT wing? Previous EVO style, if so which number? Kaminari? Or the RMR three pedastel style (difficult to install, expensive)?
Man, I'm really glad they look the same cosmetically as the 02's. There was a lot of talk about the looks of the 03's being vastly different which would have sabotaged(sp?) the aftermarket for sure. I assume the engine specs are the same as well? As for what kind of spoiler...I think people would really dig the EVO 7, EVO 6, and the Kaminari wing has a real different look for the Lancer. The RMR wing is probably too expensive for what people would want to pay for it and I don't really like the center pedestal and the light. The GT wing is probably way to loud and flashy for most people, and if somebody wanted to install one, it's affordable and easy enough for somebody to do themselves. Thanks for the heads up!

Miss schmiss.
You can get a badass aftermarket one. It'll prolly cost more and stuff, but you could be very specific about size, how it opens etc.
Same under the hood too I take it? Another year or two worth of the same Lancers means much in the way of performance parts most likely.

No, no, no, it's not cool to get a sunroof installed. Everyone tells me that. If your car doesn't have one as an option, don't get one.. it's guaranteed to leak, etc. That's what I'm told anyways.

EDIT: It won't leak if it's installed properly, but it will, more likely than not, reduce chassis rigidity and cause more body roll. It will also weaken the structure of the car from side impacts.
Aftermarket sunroofs.
If you were to request a sunroof from us installed in your new car we would send it to the same professionals that the OEM's get their roofs from. They carry their own guarantee and are from manufacturers like Webasto and ASC (who does the top for Spyders). And have their own five year guarantee.
I'm glad they didn't change the style like we thought, and it is the same 4G64 under the hood. (I don't know performance figures yet) I sat in the car for a few minutes and couldn't see anything different. We got a couple of ES automatics too and when I compared MSRP's, it was only 60 bucks more. By changing the engine and/or styling Mitsu would have alienated the '02's and hurt their resale value, so I'm glad they chose to keep the car the same for another year.

I'm glad everything's pretty much the same though!
